MSI MPG 272URX
“Stunning motion clarity, vibrant colour, deep blacks, and enough connectivity to keep your rig future-proofed for years.” Read our review.
We were really impressed by this screen in our MSI MPG 272URX review, with the super-quick response time of its OLED panel making for smooth motion in fast-action games. Add in vibrant colour reproduction, deep blacks and a 240Hz refresh rate, and it amounts to a superb display, especially for its current bargain price.
There’s full active sync support as well, including official Nvidia G-Sync compatibility. Whether you own an AMD or Nvidia GPU, this monitor will sync up its refresh rate with the frame rate output from your graphics card, so you don’t need to worry about irritating tearing artefacts ruining your visuals.
Meanwhile, the 4K resolution makes games look incredibly sharp, especially on its 27in panel, which gives it a tight pixel density of 163PPI (pixels per inch). There’s a word of warning about running games at 3840×2160, though, which is that it requires an immense amount of GPU power. You ideally want at least an Nvidia GeForce RTX 5080 if you want to run the latest games at high settings on this screen.
The big deal here, though, is that QD-OLED panel. Not only is it incredibly fast and responsive, but its super-high contrast and bright colours make games and movies look amazing. There’s full DisplayHDR True Black 400 certification as well, which gives you proper inky blacks, rather than the grey glow you get from IPS screens.
Connections are also abundant, including a full DisplayPort 2.1 input that can properly handle 4K with full 10-bit colour at 240Hz. Plus, there’s a pair of HDMI 2.1 ports, so you can plug other devices like consoles into this screen at the same time. Even the USB hub is decent, with a pair of USB 3 ports, and a USB Type-C port. The latter can deliver up to 98W of power and handle a DisplayPort connection as well.
