Motherboards are the bedrock of our builds, ensuring our components communicate effectively between one another while also keeping voltages in check. The majority of boards are up to these tasks, but opting for more-premium models does come with benefits such as greater connectivity, not forgetting features.

In my experience, none come close to embodying these traits quite like MEG X870E Godlike. Such grandeur naturally comes at a high price, but recent discounts make this beautiful board a better bargain.

MSI MEG X870E Godlike

“MEG X870E Godlike is simply the best AM5 motherboard you could hope to have for any PC.” Read our review.

On Amazon US, you’ll find the flagship motherboard on the storefront’s digital shelves for $999.40. MEG X870E Godlike did launch at $1,100 but the board’s cost grew in recent months to a high of $1,330, making for a whoppingly big 25% ($330.59) discount today.

Before diving into the expectedly bleeding-edge specifications, I’d like to take a moment to appreciate how much of a showpiece MEG X870E Godlike is. Seeing this motherboard in action for the first time, it’s hard not to get swept up by the glow of its stereoscopic dragon engraving. More subtly, though, the board hides almost all headers, making for build with a truly clean finish.

MSI makes full use of AMD’s X870E chipset in this board, with two full-size PCIe 5.0 expansion slots with a minimum of eight lanes, in addition to a PCIe 4.0 x4 connection. That’s not forgetting the two PCIe 5.0 x4 slots for high-speed storage, with another three PCIe 4.0 headers in reserve.

Much as there’s plenty of connectivity on face of MEG X870E Godlike, there’s plenty round back too. The board offers 15 USB ports, made up of eight 10Gb/s Type-A, five 10Gb/s Type-C, and two 40Gb/s Type-C. Should you need more connections, MSI’s flagship has you covered with another 10 available via the front.

Of course, there’s plenty of room for RAM on this motherboard with support for capacities up to 256GB. Impressively, unlike many other AM5 boards, MEG X870E Godlike can easily stomach memory running at 9,000+MT/s out of the gate.

All of this high-end setup runs on a practically bulletproof 24+2+1, 110A VRM phase design. This not only will keep components running smooth at stock but also opens up plenty of room for overclocking with plenty of overhead.

Part of MEG X870E Godlike’s cost pays for the motherboard’s bundled accessories. You can read more about them in my review, but my favourite is easily ‘EZ Bridge’. This addition rests magnetically atop the board, providing extra connections for things like ARGB peripherals and serving as a large display for error codes and more.
