In the three years since AMD launched its AM5 platform, compatible processors have continued to prove their worth while also becoming more affordable in that space of time. Now, the humble Ryzen 5 7600X can be yours for half price, netting you a high-value hero of a CPU.

Ryzen 5 7600X
A smart choice for mainstream builds, Ryzen 5 7600X packs plenty of value. See our benchmarks.
On Amazon US, you’ll find Ryzen 5 7600X on sale for $149.99, down 50% ($150) on the dot from its original list price. That’s the cheapest this chip’s ever been in the region. UK shoppers can enjoy a similar discount, picking up the processor for £149.99.
Ryzen 5 7600X features six Zen 4 cores, 12 threads, and a maximum boost clock of 5.3GHz. That’s more than enough processing power to keep up with most contemporary graphics cards without creating a noticeable bottleneck, particularly at higher resolutions.
As an ‘X’ SKU, you can tweak Ryzen 5 7600X with an overclock or underclock to squeeze more performance and/or efficiency out of the processor. I’d particularly recommend giving the latter a try as the processor does run hot by default.
Speaking of which, you’ll need a suitable cooler to keep Ryzen 5 7600X in check. Thankfully most cooling should be up to the task as the chip’s 105W TDP isn’t sky-high as power draws go. Heck, I’ve managed to get by with an AMD Wraith Stealth cooler on this CPU in the past.

While Ryzen 5 9600X remains the more performant option, value lies with Ryzen 5 7600X at current prices. After all, the newer AMD chip costs 20% more and only offers a 10-13% uplift according our Cinebench 2024 benchmarks.
Just think of that money saved as extra budget towards a more feature-rich motherboard. Don’t forget, you can slot Ryzen 5 7600X into any AM5 board no sweat as the family is compatible with all chipsets out of the box.
