Reaching for the glorious heights of super-fast QD-OLED tech has just become all the more affordable, thanks to the price of this 360Hz MSI MAG 271QPX monitor falling to a new low of just $519.99. This deal isn’t part of Amazon’s Prime Big Deals sale either, so anyone can get in on this enticing saving.
The MAG 271QPX offers up a 27in QD-OLED panel, with a QHD (2560×1440) resolution and 360Hz refresh rate combo. This mix of size and pixel count delivers a pleasingly sharp 109 pixels per inch (PPI), a welcome bump in sharpness relative to 24in FHD (1920×1080) LCD monitors at 92PPI. Bigger screen, greater detail, it’s a win-win.
Raw pixel count is one thing, but QD-OLED screens are markedly better than LCDs in terms of contrast too. Thanks to per-pixel local dimming, these displays are able to output perfect black levels, giving shadows a true dark coat of paint rather than a muddy grey gloss. This capability benefits SDR, and greatly improves HDR experiences, with bright highlights able to pop all the more.
Speaking of HDR, the MAG 271QPX meets all the requirements for DisplayHDR True Black 400 certification. While newer, more-expensive QD-OLED screens are slightly brighter, this monitor will deliver a punchy, vibrant viewing experience. MSI claims the panel covers 99% of the DCI-P3 colour space, the most widely used gamut for HDR content, with excellent Delta E ≤ 2 colour accuracy to boot.
Operating at 360Hz, frame times fall to as little as 2.78ms resulting in excellent motion clarity. Combine this with near-instant response times, which remain consistent across refresh rates, and you can expect a smooth gaming experience, free of ghosting or other artefacts, regardless of your frame rate. Of course, a variable refresh rate helps keep unsightly tearing at bay too, providing you keep performance above 48fps.
MSI equips the MAG 271QPX with a single DisplayPort 1.4 input and two HDMI 2.1 ports. All three are capable of running the monitor at its maximum refresh rate and resolution, providing your graphics card has the same or better outputs. You’ll also find a USB-C port with DP Alt Mode support on the chassis, complete with 15W of power delivery.
