Small but mighty, a Mac Mini with the latest M6 chip inside can now be yours for as little as £823 / $779. This recent discount comes by way of Amazon, bringing the system to its cheapest level on the storefront, while also beating prices from Apple’s own store as well. Comparatively, you’ll pay £899 / $899 for this brand new system direct from Apple, saving you a solid $120.
Despite measuring a mere 2in tall, 5in wide and deep, and weighing in at 0.67kg, the Mac Mini M6 packs enormous punch. The M6 chip inside the system is the latest in Apple silicon, and the first model the firm’s built using TSMC’s 2nm process. In short, this nets superior performance and efficiency relative to prior generations.
Inside the M6 is a 12-core CPU, providing a two-core bump over the M5. This setup features two super cores, four performance cores, and six efficiency cores. Apple is describing this chip as boasting “the world’s fastest single-threaded performance,” with up to a 20% uplift over its predecessor in terms of multi-core pace.
That CPU complex arrives with a 12-core GPU, which Apple says can perform up to 30% better than its prior-generation silicon. This will help boost rendering performance across the board, with improvements to local AI compute and gaming too.
The base price we’ve listed features 256GB and 16GB RAM, both of which cannot be upgraded. While that amount of memory will be enough for most folks, managing that storage capacity will require some discipline and probably some assistance from external drives. Alternatively, you can reach for the 512GB model at £1,039 / $949, which is still cheaper than buying directly from Apple.
Despite its stature, you’ll have plenty of ports at your disposal across the chassis. Round front are two 10Gbps USB ports, but the real speed lies at the rear via three Thunderbolt 4 inputs. That’s not forgetting the HDMI port and 2.5Gbps Ethernet too.
If you’d prefer to connect wirelessly, the Mac Mini supports Wi-Fi 7 for maximum and speed and stability, but will seamlessly scale down to lower standards if necessary. You also have Bluetooth 6 at your disposal, ready for your AirPods and other peripherals.
