AOC has just announced a 27in QD-OLED gaming monitor with a fast 280Hz refresh rate and a very tempting-looking price of just £419.99. Based on third-generation QD-OLED technology, the AOC Q27G4ZD looks set to combine solid motion clarity, colours, and contrast, without breaking the bank.
Though not as fast as the latest 500Hz monitors, it still features all the aspects that make QD-OLED a sought-after technology. You should get a great HDR experience thanks to per-pixel local dimming, with deep blacks courtesy of its DisplayHDR True Black 400 certification. You should also get outstanding motion clarity, thanks to a lightning-fast 0.03ms grey-to-grey pixel response times, and leading colour reproduction courtesy of the Quantum Dot layer. AOC advertises up to 1,000nits of peak brightness at 3% average picture level (APL), 450nits at 10% APL, and 250nits full screen.

With its 27in panel, the Q27G4ZD’s QHD (2560×1440) resolution results in a sharp 108.8 PPI (pixels per inch) density, which is more than enough for a normal sitting distance. This also makes it easier to drive than a 4K panel, even on mid-range GPUs, allowing you to reliably reach the maximum 280Hz refresh rate. This is important, since QD-OLED’s motion clarity depends on your games’ frame rate (fps). There’s also full Adaptive-Sync support, including Nvidia G-Sync compatibility, to ensure a tear-free experience across variable frame rates.

Design-wise, the Q27G4ZD uses AOC’s signature Gaming frame and stand, offering clean aesthetics with gaming accents in some places. You won’t find any RGB lighting, fancy OSD controls, or motion detection apparatus; AOC has kept only a few key parts in order to shave as much unnecessary cost as possible.
Connection options are composed of two HDMI 2.1 ports, one DisplayPort 1.4 input, a 3.5mm headphone jack, and a four-port USB 3.2 hub. This selection allows you to connect a PC, PlayStation 5, and Xbox Series at the same time. Lastly, to ensure a comfortable user experience, AOC went with its ergonomic stand, offering from -3° to 21° tilt, 28° swivel, 90° pivot, and 130mm height adjustments. If this isn’t enough, you can always install a monitor arm using the VESA 100x100mm mount.

The AOC Gaming Q27G4ZD will be available from February 2026 at £419.99 MSRP, backed by a three-year warranty covering OLED burn-in. This slots it below the Philips Evnia 27M2N8500, making it ideal for those who don’t mind trading a bit of speed for a lower price. It is also priced only £20 above the cheapest 240Hz QD-OLEDs, such as the Evnia 27M2N6501L, providing a balanced option for those who want even more motion clarity without the premium price tag.
