The MacBook has been the device of choice for musicians and artists for decades, and the newest iteration could be just around the corner, according to a new report from Bloomberg’s Mark Gurman. Gurman has become a reliable source of information regarding upcoming Apple products, with his predictions being generally accurate.
The latest Apple Silicon will come in the form of M5, the highly anticipated successor to the M4 chip. Gurman’s insider information suggests that laptops containing the M5 chip are ready for mass production, which intimates the first M5-containing product launch is right around the corner. These new products could be the first to ship using recently-released MacOS Tahoe by default, replacing MacOS Sequoia.
Going by previous release schedules, the MacBook Pro would usually be the first to release, followed by the MacBook Air. The information provided by Gurman, however, throws the usual schedule into question, as his prediction indicates that the MacBook Pro will not be launched until early 2026.

This leaves the question of what will fill the gap. Analysts are expecting Apple to launch something in Autumn of 2025 alongside the official reveal of the M5, and the smart money is on the M5-equipped iPad Pro. Back in March, Gurman reported that the new iPad Pro was in advanced stages of testing, lending credence to the theory.
The majority of leaks and rumours regarding the M5 have concerned the laptop line, though it is believed that the new iMac and Apple Vision Pro will also contain the latest Silicon. Details on the specifications for the M5 chip have been scarce, but since bringing the silicon in-house, Apple have produced some impressively powerful chips.
It’s safe to say that Apple’s pivot to producing its own silicon has been a game-changer for the company, enabling new strategies and products. The loss of Apple as a major customer has not been so good for Intel, however, as recent events can attest.
