You can now upgrade your setup with a stunning 26.5in 4K QD-OLED monitor, as the cost of an Asus ROG XG27UCDMG has tumbled to its lowest ever price at $774. That’s right, this premium screen is now cheaper than it was during Prime Day, with a welcome $120 (14%) saving over the display’s typical list price.

ASUS ROG XG27UCDMG

“Designed for discerning gamers.” – Asus

As a high-end QD-OLED, the ROG XG27UCDMG separates itself from the cheaper pack with enticing creature comforts. Chief among them is a proximity sensor, which will automatically shift the screen to black if you step away from your setup to reduce the risk of burn-in, quickly resuming upon your return. You can also expect a greater array of connections relative to other monitors, including higher power delivery from its USB-C port, a KVM, and more USB-A ports.

Running at 4K across a 26.5in panel gives the ROG XG27UCDMG sublime pixel density, measuring at 166 pixels per inch (PPI). This makes for a much sharper viewing experience relative to 32in 4K alternatives, which offer 140PPI, while enhancing overall scene detail across games and content more broadly.

This screen is undeniably sharp to the eye but feels smooth to use as well, with a native 240Hz refresh rate which enables frame times to fall all the way down to 4.17ms and greatly improve motion clarity. Combine this with sub-1ms pixel response times that are always in play, regardless of your frame rate, and you have an exceptionally sleek gaming experience on your hands.

The ROG XG27UCDMG also sports a fourth-generation tandem QD-OLED panel, promising superior brightness and efficiency relative to older models. Packing enough nits to meet DisplayHDR True Black 400 certification, and with per-pixel local dimming, this monitor will deliver a gorgeous HDR presentation with rich contrast. However, it’s worth noting that this screen uses a triangular subpixel layout, which can negatively impact text clarity.

Asus is promising a vibrant and accurate gamut with this screen too. The firm proudly flaunts the monitor’s 99% coverage of the DCI-P3 colour space, while maintaining Delta E < 2 colour accuracy, meaning any deviations are imperceptible to the human eye. Speaking from experience, once you’ve seen all these pluses of QD-OLED for yourself, you’ll find the dullness of most LCDs difficult to shake.

Burn-in remains a concern across all OLED monitors, but Asus has several protections in place to protect the longevity of the ROG XG27UCDMG. The firm’s ‘OLED Care Pro’ suite includes the usual smorgasbord of software controls, including pixel cleaning, logo detection, and more, as well as a three-year warranty that covers the issue. That’s not forgetting the motion sensor that I mentioned earlier too.

Finally, there’s a solid collection of display inputs and USB ports on this monitor. Asus equips the screen with two HDMI 2.1 inputs and a lone DisplayPort 1.4 socket, all capable of driving the panel at its maximum refresh and resolution via lossless Display Stream Compression (DSC). The USB-C port supports DP Alt Mode and 90W of power delivery as well, enabling a potent single cable connection for data and charging between this monitor and your laptop or handheld. Finally, there are three USB-A ports available to share across the built-in KVM, enabling seamless use of peripherals between two systems.
