There seems to be no end to the deluge of deals hitting the SSD market, with PCIe Gen 5 storage specifically seeing massive price drops. The latest addition to the party, Crucial T705, could be the most tempting yet, providing a solid uplift over Gen 4 speeds while proving relatively inexpensive.

On Amazon US, Crucial T705 2TB is ready for the taking at $159.99, a cool 20% ($40) off its typical cost. You’ll also find the 4TB model available $320.99, down 17% ($67.91). Whichever capacity takes your fancy, you’ll be paying the lowest ever price for the SSD.

Crucial T705 2TB seems like is the smartest pick of the bunch, edging out the 4TB variant in terms of value. The drive’s price is particularly enticing considering this price is more typical of 1TB capacities on newer Gen 5 alternatives.

On that note, let’s talk performance. Crucial T705 offers respective sequential read and write speeds of 14,500MB/s and 12,700MB/s. These speeds are competitive with more-modern Gen 5 SSDs, and provide plenty of zip for AI, gaming, and general computing.

Note that this version of Crucial T705 doesn’t come with a built-in heatsink. This SSD absolutely requires some form of cooler on account of its high operating temperatures. Thankfully, the passive cooling of your motherboard will be up to the task of taming this storage.

While Crucial T705 runs hot, this doesn’t come at the expense of longevity. The SSD has an endurance rating of 600TBW per TB, meaning 1,200TBW for the 2TB model and 2,400TBW for 4TB. Naturally, the drive also comes with a welcome five-year limited warranty.
