Latest-gen goodness.

It’s hard to keep up with red-hot deals during Black Friday week, but for the PC enthusiasts among us, we’re keeping a close eye on proceedings to help identify the absolute best bargains.

Hot off the press today is AMD’s Ryzen 9 7900X. The latest-generation CPU, launched just over a year ago at £599, has dropped spectacularly to £350.97 at the time of writing—a phenomenal saving and bordering on half price. The same CPU is discounted in the US to $389, where shoppers are also eligible for a free Avatar: Frontiers of Pandora game bundle.

To recap, Ryzen 9 7900X is a 5nm Zen 4 processor cramming 12 cores, 24 threads, and a top speed of 5.6GHz into a 170W power envelope. It’s a phenomenal all-round chip and an ideal choice for migrating to a cutting-edge AM5 platform that’s expected to last at least another generation or two.

The only question on most enthusiasts’ lips will be 7900X or 7800X3D? Pricing is practically identical, and your choice depends entirely on workload. Productivity favours the former, while the X3D cache in the latter makes it the best CPU for gaming. Either way, there’s no bad option, especially at these prices.
