Amazon has just slashed a massive £67 off the price of AMD Ryzen 5 7500X3D gaming CPUs, meaning you can now pick one up for just £180. This X3D CPU is equipped with AMD’s acclaimed 3D V-cache tech, meaning it has a big 64MB slice of extra L3 cache on top of its six Zen 4 cores. That’s a fantastic price for this chip, but you’ll need some DDR5 memory to go with it, and that’s going to set you back a bit right now.

It looks to us as though high RAM prices have had a big impact on sales of AMD’s cheaper CPUs, as all its AM5 processors require DDR5 RAM. That would explain why the price of this affordable cached-up chip have dropped like a stone. The Ryzen 5 7500X3D launched just over three months ago, and we’ve already seen one price drop to £208.52, with this latest £180 offer bringing it down even further.
If you already have some DDR5 RAM, this is a great chip at that price, being the top budget gaming CPU choice on our guide to buying the best CPU. As we found in our 7500X3D vs 7800X3D feature, there’s barely any difference in performance between these two CPUs in some games, including Assassin’s Creed Shadows, as shown in the graph below.

You do start to see the 8-core 78003D pulling away from this 6-core chip in some titles, such as Forza Motorsport, and the 7500X3D understandably falls away in multi-threaded rendering tests as well. At this price, though, you really can’t complain – £180 is a great price for a 6-core chip with 3D V-cache.
The only problem is finding memory to go with it, and that’s an issue for this Zen 4 chip. After all, if you already own an AM5 system with DDR5 RAM, you’ll already be using a Zen 4 or Zen 5 CPU of some description, meaning this last-gen 6-core CPU is unlikely to give you much of an upgrade.

There are still some RAM offers at Overclockers UK at the moment, and while this memory is still significantly more expensive than it was just a few months ago, we have seen much worse. You can currently pick up 16GB of Kingston Fury Beast 5,600MT/s CL36 RAM for £149.99, for example, which isn’t terrible if you’re thinking of building a budget gaming rig based on the 7500X3D.
Amazon is listing this offer as a limited-time deal, however, so if you’re thinking about buying this chip, it’s best to do it sooner rather than later.
