Sandisk is releasing a lineup of SATA and M.2 SSDs designed specifically to serve as network-attached storage (NAS) drives. Whether you’re looking to complement your existing array, or use these drives for primary data storage, Sandisk is promising ample capacity, endurance, and speed from this series.
The Sandisk NAS 800 NVMe series encompasses the brand’s fastest NAS-optimised SSDs. These drives sport a PCIe Gen 5 x4 interface, and are available in 960GB, 1.92TB, 3.84TB, or 7.68TB capacities, with prices ranging from $309 to $2,199.

| Form factor | M.2 2280 |
| Endurance | 1,750-14,000TBW |
| Warranty | Five years |
| Price | $309-$2,199 |
In terms of performance, the NAS 800 NVMe series delivers random read speeds of up to 1.6-2.3M IOPS, with writes clocking in at 0.8-2.1M IOPS, depending on capacity. That level of performance makes them ideal for multiple-user access. Sandisk claims they’re capable of stunning peak sequential performance too, hitting up to 14,900MB/s in reads.
Of course, there are hardy endurance ratings to complement this performance too, ranging between 1,750 and 14,000TBW, complete with a five-year limited warranty for extra peace of mind.
Meanwhile, for those aiming to replace or complement their 3.5in HDD array with 2.5in SSDs, or build an entire SATA SSD array in their NAS, there’s the Sandisk NAS 600 SATA family. While these drives are naturally slower and larger than the firm’s NVMe offerings, their speeds are still faster than a 2.5Gbps Ethernet connection, and they have much lower prices than the NVMe drives too.
| Sandisk NAS 600 SATA | |
|---|---|
| Capacities | 500GB / 1TB / 2TB/ 4TB |
| Interface | SATA III 6Gb/s |
| Seq. read speed | 560MB/s |
| Seq. write speed | 505-520MB/s |
| Random read speed | 75-87K IOPS |
| Random write speed | 74-77K IOPS |
| Form factor | 2.5in |
| Endurance | 350-2,500TBW |
| Warranty | Five years |
| Price | $179 to $999 |
These SATA drives are available in 500GB, 1TB, 2TB, and 4TB capacities, and range in price between $179 and $999. For all that cash, the storage promises speeds typical of its interface, with sequential reads of 560MB/s across the board and 505-520MB/s in terms of writes.
Random performance is similarly strong, at 75-87K IOPS for reads and 74-77K IOPS for writes. These 2.5in SSDs arrive with the same five-year warranty coverage, and promise endurance ratings between 350TBW and 2,500TBW depending on capacity.
You’ll be able to pick up the Sandisk NAS 800 NVMe and NAS 600 SATA series from September, either directly from the firm itself or via retailers.
