Retail listings for the AMD Ryzen 7 9850X3D are beginning to materialise, complete with potential pricing for this new gaming CPU. While AMD hasn’t even officially confirmed this CPU’s existence, let alone its price, these listings point to a small price gap between this new chip and its predecessor, the 9800X3D.
Over on US retailer NEBuMAX, you’ll find a Ryzen 7 9850X3D ready to order for $511.44. However, this price isn’t reflective of the processor’s MSRP, with the store providing separate pricing for that category. Nonetheless, we can still draw reasonable conclusions about how much this upcoming CPU may cost.
Bringing Ryzen 7 9800X3D into the fold, NEBuMAX sells this processor for $489.72, a 2.2% uplift over its $479 MSRP. While this rule doesn’t apply to every listing, we can apply it to the Ryzen 7 9850X3D to get a rough estimate. In doing so, the newer chip’s price becomes $500.19.
Realistically, I believe AMD plans to charge a touch more than ~$500 for the Ryzen 7 9850X3D. While I’d welcome a $20 gap between this newcomer and the Ryzen 7 9800X3D, I reckon we’ll stare down a $50 differential, bringing the MSRP up to $529. I’m more than happy for AMD to prove me wrong.

A $20-50 price difference makes sense given the context of Ryzen 7 9850X3D specs rumours. Assuming these leaks are correct, we’re talking the same amount of cache as a Ryzen 7 9800X3D, with mirroring core and thread counts too. The only meaningful difference is reportedly a higher promised boost clock of 5.6GHz, translating to a 400MHz uplift.
How much of a difference those extra hertz make will undoubtedly vary by application, but I don’t foresee there being much in it between these two CPUs. We’ll need to wait and see until we get our hands on the chip, alongside other enthusiasts.
There’s no official news about whether the Ryzen 7 9850X3D will make an appearance at AMD’s CES 2026 press conference, but it seems likely given how close this leak has occurred to the event. If it does, here’s hoping AMD provides concrete pricing information, so we can properly assess the potential value this X3D refresh of sorts offers.
While the Ryzen 7 9850X3D should offer at least marginally better performance than AMD’s Ryzen 7 9800X3D, I’m more interested in the rumoured Ryzen 9 9950X3D2, which reportedly has a massive L3 cache pool across both CCDs. Should such a chip come to fruition, gamers in search of the absolutely highest performance could be clamouring for this champion.
