AMD Ryzen 7 9850X3D will reportedly be on sale from 29 January 2026, according to a leaked document shared by tech site Videocardz. AMD’s new 8-core gaming CPU has 64MB of 3D V-cache, just like 9800X3D, but it also has a much higher boost clock. However, AMD hasn’t yet revealed an official release date for the chip.
We do know the 9850X3D specs, though, which show a top clock speed of 5.6GHz, compared to 5.2GHz on the 9800X3D. There’s not much else new here – the rest of this new CPU’s specs remain the same as those of its predecessor, with eight Zen 5 cores and 16 threads, as well as a 120W TDP.
So far, AMD hasn’t shared a specific 9850X3D release date, after unveiling the new chip at CES 2026 on 5 January 2026. However, Videocardz has shared a screengrab of a document that purportedly reveals the sales embargo date, shown above. According to the document, the 9850X3D will go on sale on 29 January 2026 at 9am US Eastern Time (ET), with no pre-sales allowed. The site also claims there’s a 9850X3D review embargo the day before, and this document implies that no pre-orders will be available at this time.
Whether this document is legitimate or not remains to be seen, as AMD hasn’t officially announced an official 9850X3D release date yet. However, we did manage to get our hands on a 9850X3D ourselves at CES, pictured in the image above, as well as a delidded version.
We’ll have to wait and see whether this 29 January release date turns out to be true, but either way, it looks as though we won’t have long to wait until AMD’s new 8-core CPU with 3D V-cache hits the stores.
