The best time to upgrade your storage was probably mid-2023, when prices were low. The second-best time is now. You see, the dreaded SSD price increase has finally hit, meaning we need to take the wins when they come. Crucial has a selection of SSD deals, chopping several below half price and keeping others under $120 / £100.

Starting with Crucial’s zippy P3 Plus, the NVMe SSD sports a 23% discount in the US with a $123.99 price tag. This isn’t quite the lowest we’ve seen it, but we don’t expect the best prices for a while, given the state of the market. UK folks also see a 54% reduction, bringing the drive down to £108.99.

As a PCIe 4.0 drive, you can enjoy up to 5,000MB/s sequential read and 4,200MB/s write speeds. Of course, it’s forwards compatible with PCIe 5.0 slots and backwards compatible with previous generations. Your speed will be capped by whatever’s the weakest link in the connection, though. For example, you can only expect around 3,500MB/s if you plug it into a PCIe 3.0 slot.

Games are constantly growing in size, but 2TB should be plenty for your main roster. You can fit Star Wars Jedi: Survivor, Baldur’s Gate 3, Red Dead Redemption 2, Warzone, and Ark: Survival Evolved, and you’ll still have over 1TB remaining.

The fastest drive Crucial has reduced is the 2TB T700 with a heatsink. Over on Amazon US, you’ll get the drive 26% cheaper for $159.99. UK shoppers have the chance of grabbing one 19% cheaper from Amazon for £144.95.

Even though this runs the same Gen 4 protocol as the P3 Plus, it nearly maxes it out with 7,400MB/s read speeds and 7,000MB/s write. It’s PS5-ready, grants the ultimate gaming experience, and is perfect for content creators that know time is money. In fact, buying one now nets you a one month Adobe Creative Cloud All-Apps plan. M.2 slots are few and far between. If you’ve already run out, Crucial has a couple of other deals on 2.5in SATA drives that should keep you going. 29% off Crucial BX500 brings the 2TB SSD down to $118.99. The UK sees a bigger sale taking 45% off, bringing the same drive below £100.

With 540MB/s sequential read and 500MB/s write speeds, it’s noticeably slower than M.2 counterparts. Still, it’s a massive upgrade from a hard drive, and you’ll only notice a couple of seconds difference in loading times if you look hard enough. There are no moving parts compared to an HDD, so it’s less prone to breaking. Still, it’s backed by a limited three-year warranty, just in case anything falters.

These SSD deals won’t last forever. Some are here until stocks last, some are available through until February 4, and others could end in the next hour. Why take any chances? Grab one while they’re cheaper.
