HP launches League of Legends Limited Edition Omen 16 gaming laptop starting at $1,999

A laptop that stands out with its tasteful design instead of flashy, over-the-top RGB spam.

HP has launched a limited-edition Omen 16 laptop featuring esports title League of Legends. Building on the Omen 35L Valorant Limited Edition gaming desktop, this addition further expands Omen’s portfolio of exclusive collaborations with Riot Games’ titles. It features plenty of attention to detail that LoL players will notice and appreciate, from the custom keycaps to the golden outlines.

The Omen 16 League of Legends laptop measures 357mm (W) x 269mm (D) x 24mm (H) and weighs 2.43kg. It maintains the lineup style with a large mouse pad and vents all around the chassis, but sprinkles a bit of art here and there, some of which only knowledgeable eyes can understand. Every keycap uses the official League of Legends font, with special treatment for the L and QWERDF keys. These are important controls for the game, hence the focus on their style. Though note, however, that while the keyboard is RGB-lit, it only offers four zones, i.e. no per-key customisation.

This special edition starts at $1,999.99, powered by an Intel Core i7-14650HX processor plus an Nvidia GeForce RTX 5070 mobile GPU. This model offers gamers 16 cores – eight of which are P-cores – clocked up to 5.2GHz, 32GB of dual-channel DDR5-5600 memory, and 8GB of GDDR7 VRAM.

To get an idea of the GPU performance, the RTX 5070 mobile slots between the desktop RTX 5060 8GB and the RTX 5060 Ti 16GB, delivering around 60fps in Cyberpunk 2077 at 1440p ultra, according to Hardware Canucks recent testing. However, VRAM may cause some limitations in other AAA titles due to the Omen 16’s high-res display, but a quick setting tune should fix this.

On the subject of display, Omen 16 LoL comes equipped with a 16in WQXGA (2560×1600) IPS panel capable of reaching 240Hz refresh rate. HP also advertises 3ms response time, 500nits of brightness, and 100% of sRGB gamut coverage, all of which are fine. Surprisingly, the brand doesn’t mention any HDR certifications despite the panel’s above-average brightness.

Storage-wise, the unit has a 1TB Gen 4 NVMe SSD, which is barely sufficient for today’s needs. Thankfully, this spec is easily expandable using the secondary M.2 slot. At least the Wi-Fi 6E wireless connectivity won’t hold you back when downloading new games or updates. That said, we would have preferred to see at least 2.5GbE LAN instead of the built-in 1GbE. The remaining I/O is comprised of one USB 10Gb/s, two USB 5Gb/s, one HDMI 2.1, one USB 10Gb/s Type-C with power delivery and DisplayPort alt mode, plus a 3.5mm combo audio jack. An FHD camera and an IR thermal sensor complement the list.

All of this takes power from an 83Wh Li-ion polymer battery, rated for up to 9 hours and 45 minutes of video playback. To top it off, there’s a 230W power adapter, said to bring the charge back to 50% in about 30 minutes.

You can already pre-order the Omen 16 League of Legends Limited Edition (LoLLE?) from HP’s store, though shipments aren’t expected until November 3, 2025. Overall, it is worth considering if you are a League of Legends fan, even though the price could, and should, be better.
