Late last year, we were treated to a hefty Meta Quest 2 discount. The 128GB version dropped to $249.99 / £249.99 and the 256GB model wasn’t far behind at $299.99 / $299.99. Fortunately, Meta is kicking off 2024 with a bang, making it a permanent price cut for both iterations. Better yet, the accessories are also on the cost chopping block, now more affordable than ever.

The company announced the welcome news in a blog post on New Year’s Eve and isn’t restricted to new VR headsets. Officially refurbished models also see a fixed discount, costing you $229.99 for 128GB and $269.99 for 256GB SKUs.

Meta Quest 2 has been around long enough to build up a robust third-party marketplace for accessories. Still, a price cut on the first-party gadgets might have you buying from Meta instead. Here’s what you can save:

  • Elite Strap: $49.99 / £49.99 – $59.99 / £59.99
  • Carrying Case: $44.99 / £44.99 – $59.99 / £59.99
  • Elite Strap with Battery: $89.99 / £84.99 – $119.99 / £109.99
  • Active Pack: $59.99 / £59.99 – $69.99 / £69.99
  • Fit Pack: $39.99 / £39.99 – $49.99 / £49.99

The discount is welcome considering Meta Quest 3 has been around for three months now, pioneering mixed reality. Meta Quest 2 remains the most affordable way to get into quality virtual reality, but this move could see the company phase out the headset in the near future.

So far, people seem quite enamoured with Meta Quest 3, with an uptick in adoption on December’s Steam Hardware Survey. Meta Quest 2 is still the most popular model by more than double its nearest rival, but the third iteration comfortably sits in fourth and shows no sign of slowing down.
