QNAP discontinues Qsirch Premium and offers all features for free instead

All Qsirch features will become available to all users come October 1, and the next major iteration of QNAP's NAS search engine is just around the corner.

As the amount of data on NAS increases, it becomes increasingly difficult to organise files in an intuitive manner and maintain proper storage hygiene. This has made search engines like Qsirch invaluable, but getting the most out of such software usually came at a premium. Emphasis on that past tense.

QNAP has announced plans to discontinue Qsirch Premium on October 1, 2025. Moving forward, the brand will offer all of the software’s capabilities set at no cost. Better still, existing Qsirch Lite users will gain access to the extra features automatically.

In a recent press release, Vivian Luo, product manager at QNAP, shed some light on the decision to bring the full capabilities of Qsirch to more users. “We are committed to advancing AI search and making it accessible to every user. This change unlocks the complete Qsirch experience for everyone and sets the stage for even more powerful enhancements in future releases.”

Speaking of which, QNAP also took this opportunity to remind users that Qsirch 6.0 is coming soon. This new iteration will also not gatekeep particular features behind a premium tier.

Upgrading to Qsirch 6.0 will provide support for on-premises LLM models, including DeepSeek, Gemma, and more. This version will also see the full release of RAG (retrieval augmented generation), following the beta testing period of Qsirch 5.6.0.

To ensure as many users as possible benefit from the discontinuation of Qsirch Premium, QNAP has released Qsirch 5.3.3. This launch accommodates those that haven’t upgraded to QTS 5.x or recent versions of the software.
