It’s entirely logical to presume Prime Day would be the best time to pick up a processor like Ryzen 7 9800X3D. However, that’s not how things have come to pass. Turns out, deeper discounts awaited those late to the party as the cost of the CPU is now lower than it was during the Amazon sale.

AMD Ryzen 7 9800X3D

There’s little doubt that Ryzen 7 9800X3D is the best gaming processor on the market.Read our review.

On the storefront, you’ll find Ryzen 7 9800X3D for $451.50. That’s a 6% saving relative to MSRP, and just under 10 bucks shy of the CPU’s best ever price. Meanwhile, UK shoppers can pick up the CPU for £409, netting a larger 9% (£40) discount. In fact, the chip’s never been cheaper in the region.

For those in search of the fastest gaming processor, bar none, Ryzen 7 9800X3D is the way to go. The CPU packs eight Zen 5 cores, 16 threads, and an all-important 96MB pool of L3 cache. This X3D chip is rocking AMD’s second-generation 3D V-Cache technology, meaning it has more power at its disposal and even supports overclocking.

As we’ve observed first-hand in our Ryzen 7 9800X3D review, the processor frequently delivers class-leading frame rates paired with the best graphics cards. Naturally, it makes the greatest impact at lower resolutions where the CPU becomes more of a bottleneck.

Take the Cyberpunk 2077 and Final Fantasy XIV: Dawntrail results above. Ryzen 7 9800X3D sits pretty at the head of the pack in both games, besting X3D siblings and non-X3D competition alike.

It’s important to note that not every game will take to 3D V-Cache as hungrily as the two titles above. However, with a stock boost clock speed of 5.2GHz there’s little reason to fear losing out on much performance in single-threaded scenarios.

Should you need further reassurance as to the single-core performance of Ryzen 7 9800X3D, consult the Cinebench chart above. I’ve also thrown in multi-core scores for good measure.
