One of the most beloved gaming CPUs of the modern era is finally flirting with a more reasonable price. After months of sitting within $100 of its 9000 Series successor, AMD Ryzen 7 7800X3D is back down to $375 on Amazon US, offering a solid 16% discount and its lowest price in recent memory.

Criticisms of lower frequencies aside, AMD Ryzen 7 7800X3D is nothing short of a gaming darling. Armed with eight cores, 16 threads, and a massive 96MB of L3 cache, this is the chip that made AMD’s V-Cache tech truly mainstream. In our full review, it consistently outperformed its non-X3D counterparts, including Ryzen 9 7950X across a range of titles, delivering buttery smooth frame rates with superb frame pacing and impressively low power draw. There’s no asymmetric core layout to worry about here – just pure, consistent gaming grunt.

Sure, Zen 5 has since landed in the form of the Ryzen 7 9800X3D, but it’s a decent chunk more expensive and, crucially, doesn’t widen the gaming gap by any dramatic margin. If you’re not fussed about extra productivity headroom or squeezing out the last few frames at 360Hz, the 7800X3D remains the smarter buy for most.

It’ll pop right on top of Socket AM5, which AMD plans to support right the way through to 2027 and possibly beyond. Thanks to newer X870 and X870E chipsets, board pricing has come down enough that building around this chip no longer carries a premium. You’ll want to pair it with a decent DDR5 kit and competent cooling, but beyond that, there’s not much else to ask for. It’s fast, efficient, and finally at the price it should be.

As always, there’s no telling how long the sale or stock will last, so it’s worth snapping one up sooner rather than later. Although this isn’t directly from Amazon but rather Maestro Technology LLC, you’ll still benefit from a 30-day refund window that lets you send the silicon back if you’re not happy.
