MSI launches limited edition Toy Story PC parts but you probably can’t play with them

MSI reaches for the sky with its Toy Story collection but these components are limited in number and worldwide availability.

As someone born in 1994, I spent many hours of my childhood either watching Toy Story on VHS or playing with my own Woody and Buzz (sadly, without karate chop action). 30+ years later, I still have a deep fondness for the franchise and I can’t deny MSI’s new limited edition Toy Story collection of computer components is giving me waves of powerful nostalgia. A large part of me desperately wants to buy the entire set, and I’m sure many others feel similarly, but you’ll need to be in a specific part of the world to get them.

MSI Toy Story PC, surrounded by figures from the series.

Unless you have an address in Taiwan, you’ll unfortunately have to enjoy this Toy Story collection from afar. Even then, there are only 500 units up for grabs, each with their own number, so you’ll need luck on your side too. Should the stars align and you find yourself a winner in this proverbial lottery, you’ll have an entire desktop of themed components to enjoy, complete with case.

MSI Z890 Gaming Plus Toy Story Edition, featuring the likeness and aesthetics of Woody.

At the heart of this set is a Z890 Gaming Plus motherboard, themed after Woody. Across the board you’ll find the cowboy’s trademark plaid shirt pattern, in addition to his belt buckle, pull cord, and some cow print for good measure. The CPU socket also features a print of the Toy Story title card, but my favourite detail is the inclusion of Lenny the Binoculars on the CMOS battery.

MSI GeForce RTX 5070 Gaming Trio Toy Story Edition, featuring the likeness and aesthetics of Buzz.

Buzz spreads his wings across the build, serving as the system’s graphics card. As much as I’d prefer to see the space ranger sport more power than GeForce RTX 5070 Gaming Trio, there’s plenty to enjoy about this card’s aesthetics. The front plate captures Lightyear’s colour scheme perfectly, as white plastic contrasts against green accents and purple LEDs. Meanwhile, the backplate features a large decal of his likeness alongside his iconic phrase.

MSI MAG Coreliquid Toy Story Edition, featuring the likeness and aesthetics of the Little Green Men.

Who better to head up a 360mm radiator than the Little Green Men? MSI has given MAG Coreliquid a blue-green makeover, that aptly evokes the squeaky toys’ appearance. I do wish the hubs of each fan rocked a simple eye design, but the choice of artwork here is certainly on theme. Once it’s up and running, though, I imagine it’s hard not to look at the cooler without going ‘Oooooooooh!’

MSI MAG A850GL PCIE5 Toy Story Edition, featuring the likeness and aesthetics of Emperor Zurg.

I’m not sure how I feel about Emperor Zurg wielding 850W of power but it’s difficult to deny the allure of the gorgeously purple MAG 850GL PCIE5. You don’t become emperor without being efficient, and this power supply is appropriately so with 80 Plus Gold and Cybenetic Gold certification. I’m happy to see MSI include matching purple modular cables too, giving this supervillain turned loving father a presence in the build beyond their hidden PSU compartment.

MSI MAG Pano 110R Toy Story Edition, featuring the likeness and aesthetics of the Pizza Planet claw machine.

Finally, there’s the case itself, a MAG Pano 110R that gives a new meaning to MSI Claw. On the inside, you’ll find yellow accented PCIe expansion card covers, as well as icons from Toy Story spinning in the centre of each fan. The outside is less subtle, with a ‘Space Crane’ decal running vertically along the tempered glass side panel, complemented by a dash of red and yellow paint, mirroring the film’s logo.

There’s understandably no functioning claw, but MSI has included a joystick on the front of the case as well as a curious button featuring the Pixar Ball. Each case also comes with a ‘Prize No.’ magnet, running from 1-500.

A bedroom, styled to mimic Andy's Room from Toy Story, featuring MSI PC components and action figures from the series.

Pre-orders for the Toy Story Series are running until June 26, while stocks last. Should you find some available, you’ll need to purchase the entire set for NT$79,900 (approx. £2,000). As a reminder, MSI isn’t providing worldwide shipping for this collection so you’ll need to employ a workaround if you’re outside of Taiwan.

I don’t believe we’ll see these Toy Story components enjoy a wider release, much as I’m sure there’d be no difficulty in selling such units. However, collections like this do make me wish that we saw more launch outside of Asian territories. Come on MSI and co., you got a friend, or at least a buyer, in me.
