QNAP introduces blazing-fast QXG-100G2SF-BCM dual-port 100GbE network card

A network solution perfect to accelerate all-flash storage and virtualisation environments thanks to its 200Gb/s throughput.

QNAP has launched the QXG-100G2SF-BCM, a dual-port 100GbE network expansion card boasting 200Gb/s total throughput and advanced offload technologies. This networking solution is engineered to overcome the performance bottlenecks in virtualisation and I/O-intensive applications, making blazing-fast 100GbE business deployments easier than ever.

The QXG-100G2SF-BCM is based on a Broadcom 57508 controller, offering two QSFP28 ports in a 157.3mm-long, single-slot, low-profile design. Its PCIe Gen 4 x16 interface ensures enough bandwidth to feed its dual 100GbE ports, making it suitable for latency-sensitive environments and data-intensive workloads.

The key benefits of the QXG-100G2SF-BCM include RDMA (Remote Direct Memory Access), with support for both RoCE and iSER to boost the overall efficiency while reducing latency. RDMA allows direct read and write to RAM over the network, with almost no CPU involvement, which is perfect for virtualisation environments. Instead of passing the data from the network card to the CPU, then the RAM, wasting valuable CPU resources on unnecessary memory copies, RDMA jumps straight to RAM.

More specifically, RoCE helps RDMA over Ethernet to reduce latency and enhances VM environments’ performance by accessing RAM directly, while iSER leverages RDMA to bypass the traditional TCP/IP stack and socket layer, placing storage data directly into the memory buffers of the server/storage system.

The QXG-100G2SF-BCM also supports SR-IOV, which can allocate bandwidth resources from a physical NIC directly to VMs on the NAS, enhancing VM applications’ reliability and network efficiency by minimising CPU overheads.

“The demand for higher throughput and lower latency continues to grow in enterprise and data center environments,” said Sean Teng, Product Manager at QNAP. “With the QXG-100G2SF-BCM, organizations can unlock the full performance of all-flash storage, accelerate virtualization workloads, and scale IT operations with ease.”

The QXG-100G2SF-BCM works seamlessly with QNAP’s 100GbE switches, such as the QSW-M7308R-4X, enabling businesses to build high-speed infrastructure. Furthermore, when paired with QNAP’s all-flash NAS, it maximises storage performance and unleashes new levels of productivity for demanding IT workloads. And when the time comes to expand your network, QTS and QuTS hero operating systems make the upgrade and configuration a breeze.

The QXG-100G2SF-BCM is available now, backed by a three-year warranty.
