EVSE, the electric vehicle supply equipment division of MSI, has announced UK availability of two EV car charger series, including wall-mounted and portable units. Both feature advanced power and temperature protections alongside extended warranties and product liability insurance.
Ideal for home and workplace charging and eligible for UK grants, the Eco series delivers permanent, smart charging without requiring an infrastructure rebuild. The wall-mounted series supports up to 7kW on standard single-phase connections and 22kW on three-phase installations on the same hardware, giving you flexibility based on your electrical installation. With Auto Charge vehicle recognition, you can start a session the moment the cable is plugged in, after a one-time app setup, with the possibility to manage everything through the MSI aConnect app.
For those travelling a lot or wanting something more flexible, the EZgo portable charger offers adjustable output ranging from 1.6kW to 3kW using a standard 13 A Type G socket. According to MSI, this unit can add around 11 miles of range per hour. This makes it a great tool to keep in your EV car trunk, ready to top-up your battery at work or on the road without needing a fixed installation.
Since this model can be subjected to the outdoor environment, often left running overnight without supervision, MSI engineered it to handle dust, water, and even impacts, on top of plenty of electrical protections. It comes equipped with seven protection mechanisms, including overtemperature, overload, overvoltage, undervoltage, earth fault, leakage and surge protection. It also features temperature sensing that automatically suspends charging whenever the unit exceeds 90°C. Furthermore, if the input voltage rises or drops more than 20% compared to the set value, power is cut.
The same goes for its materials and build quality, using high-density, fire-retardant material rated UL 94 V-0, which means it is self-extinguishing and resists fire spread via flaming drips. Additionally, MSI claims that both the charger body and the cable have been tested to withstand serious compression, including the weight of a vehicle, without damage.

Though not exclusive to MSI, another part in favour of these chargers is their eligibility for UK grants, where flat owners and renters with private off-street parking can claim 75% of the cost to buy and install a socket, up to £500, which is funded until 31 March 2027. With the UK maintaining its plan to end the sale of new petrol and diesel cars by 2030, all new cars and vans will be zero-emission by 2035, i.e. EVs for the most part. Furthermore, under Part S of the Building Regulations, new homes and buildings with parking must already provide EV charging, so by opting for MSI’s EV charger series, owners and builders can be compliant without spending absurd amounts.
Speaking of which, the Eco and EZgo series are available through the Argos and MSI stores at the following prices:
- Eco Life Max Home Socket at £449.
- Eco Premium Max Home Socket at £599.
- EZgo portable charger at £189.
In terms of cover, the Eco Series carries a four-year warranty, available on registration with the MSI Member Centre, while the EZgo carries a full three-year warranty. MSI also holds up to $5 million in product liability insurance, covering damage to users or third-party property arising from product faults.
