Samsung unveils Odyssey Neo G8, G7, and G4 high-refresh rate gaming monitors

Who said VA was slow?

Samsung has announced the global availability of 2022’s Odyssey G8, G7 and G4 gaming monitors featuring Quantum Matrix and Quantum Mini LED technologies.

Odyssey Neo G8 (G85NB)

Neo G8 is a 1000R curved 4K 32in monitor with a 240Hz refresh rate and 1ms (GtG) response time. It uses Quantum Mini LED technology to enhance image quality, the company says, which enables the VA panel to display 95 per cent DCI-P3 colour gamut.

Additionally, Samsung’s Quantum Matrix technology pushes luminosity to the next level, going by the blurb, hitting 2,000-nits of brightness, and gives this monitor a Quantum HDR 2000 certification (Not to confuse with VESA HDR certifications) plus a 1,000,000:1 contrast ratio.

Design-wise, Neo G8 is inspired by Samsung’s well-known Odyssey Neo G9. It is equipped with CoreSync lighting behind the monitor, automatically detecting on-screen colour changes then projecting them on the wall to create deeper immersion.

The monitor embeds other technologies and ergonomics, too, such as AMD FreeSync Premium Pro, a matte display providing anti-glare and anti-reflective protections, a height-adjustable stand, as well as swivel and tilt functionality, plus VESA 100×100 mounting to top it off.

Odyssey Neo G7 (G75NB)

Neo G7 is also a 1000R curved 4K 32in monitor, but this time ‘only’ running at 165Hz with a 1ms (GtG) response time. It has the same features as the Neo G8, namely AMD FreeSync Premium Pro, Quantum Mini LED technology, Quantum HDR 2000 and a 2,000-nits maximum brightness alongside a 1,000,000:1 contrast ratio.

CoreSync lighting, height, tilt, swivel, and VESA 100×100 mount are present, too.

Odyssey G4 (G40B)

G4 is smaller, coming in 25in or 27in and using a flat FHD IPS panel running at 240Hz with a 1ms (GtG) response time. It has a 400-nits maximum brightness, 99 per cent sRGB coverage, plus supports HDR10, and takes advantage of FreeSync Premium and G-Sync technologies.

Not to be shy in front of its bigger brothers, it is also capable of height, tilt, swivel, and pivot adjustments.

Samsung Odyssey G85NB, G75NB and G40B gaming monitors will be available globally throughout June, with launch schedules varying by region.
