AntGamer is set to launch a 1,000Hz gaming monitor in 2026

Yet another TN panel that pushes speed to new heights, further distancing itself from encroaching OLEDs.

AntGamer has presented its plans for the fastest gaming monitor yet, slated for 2026. The brand is working with AMD to make this happen, targeting esports players delving into games such as CS2 and PUBG. How does a refresh rate of 1,000Hz grab you?

This upcoming unnamed gaming monitor is, as I say, targeting the 1,000Hz speed milestone, which would make it 38% faster than the recently announced 720Hz displays and a whopping 100% faster than the fastest OLED-based monitors on the market. To achieve this, AntGamer has opted for the tried and tested TN panel type, which is known for its outstanding pixel transitions, allowing this new level of speed. Considering how 500Hz monitors already deliver excellent image clarity and smoothness, we can’t wait to see what double that would look like.

Unlike many TN monitors that prioritise speed above all, AntGamer’s solution is said to also include technologies such as local dimming and Black Frame Insertion (BFI). The former separates the displayed image into multiple sections that can adjust brightness individually from the rest, improving contrast, while the latter inserts a black frame between each normal frame to reduce blur and boost clarity during intense movements.

Understandably, to be able to take full advantage of this speed, the hardware should be able to render, or at least get close to, the 1,000fps mark, otherwise you would be leaving some performance on the table. Thus, to help esports gamers reach this speed, AntGamer has teamed up with AMD to list the hardware requirements for some titles. These include well-known competitive shooters such as CS2 and PUBG. Needless to say that you won’t see a mention for Cyberpunk 2077 or Battlefield 6 on that list due to their much higher graphics demands.

But that’s not all. Aside from a top-of-the-line PC, AntGamer has also highlighted design considerations for the high-speed cabling, which will need to ensure strong signal integrity to transfer this many frames per second without missing a beat. Not to mention the advancements on the panel itself, which include improvements to the TFT (Thin Film Transistor) layer, and the cell construction/chemistry required for handling these fast responses.

Note however that AntGamer isn’t the only company with plans for 1,000Hz displays. TCL has previously unveiled its 1,000Hz solution, which has the advantage of rocking a 4K resolution. Now, the question is, who will be the first to launch a product to the market?
