In an unexpected but welcome move, a selection of UK retailers have reduced the asking price of Apple’s brand-new MacBook Neo laptop from £599 to £569. The 5% reduction, available at Amazon and Costco, adds to the hype of a 13in system that has been heralded as Apple’s most important release of the last decade.

At a time where PC users are being priced out of upgrades as a result of the ongoing memory crisis, MacBook Neo serves as necessary respite, particularly for millions of casual users who favour build quality and user experience over absolute performance.

Apple MacBook Neo

“Introducing MacBook Neo, an amazing Mac at a surprising price. With a durable design, beautiful colours and powerful features, it’s a magical new way to fall head over heels with Mac, every day.”

Employing the same A18 Pro processor as iPhone 16 Pro, MacBook Neo is cheap to produce and a product of Apple silicon’s success. The efficient hexa-core chip first debuted in 2024 and brings a fine balance of performance and efficiency, allowing Apple to claim up to 16 hours of battery life from a relatively tiny 36.5-watt internal battery.

At the time of writing, the promotional £569 price applies only to the entry-level model, carrying 8GB of unified memory and a 256GB SSD, in a choice of indigo (blue) or blush (pink) colour schemes. Students, meanwhile, can claim an even better deal, with MacBook Neo available for a scarcely believable £499 from Apple’s official Education Store.

MacBook Neo touts a 13in display with 2408×1506 resolution and 500-nit brightness, two USB-C ports (1x USB 2 and 1x USB 3) and a headphone jack. Bringing the Mac experience down to a lower price point, Neo runs the latest version of MacOS and carries the same high-quality Magic Keyboard as much dearer models, sans backlight. You’ll also find a 1080p webcam and a large multi-touch trackpad.

Arriving to critical acclaim, Neo’s launch has been described as a shock to the entire industry, and at these prices it’s easy to see why.
