Deal of the day: AMD Ryzen 9 7950X3D drops to lowest-ever price

The ultimate gaming CPU drops below £500.

AMD Ryzen 9 7950X3D - Lowest Price

If you’ve managed to hold out on buying a flagship AMD Ryzen X3D CPU, now might be the time to bite. The latest-generation head honcho, Ryzen 9 7950X3D, has dropped to the lowest price we’ve ever seen.

The 16-core, 32-thread chip is down to £496 at Amazon. A far cry from the £749 launch price less than 12 months ago, and the first time we’ve seen said CPU for under 500 quid. It’s not quite as stellar a deal in the US, where Ryzen 9 7950X3D can be bagged for $649.

Nevertheless, 2024 is shaping up to be a better year for PC enthusiasts. Too long have we been starved of affordable, high-end hardware, but the signs are looking promising. Nvidia is gearing up to release more amenable GeForce RTX 40 Super graphics cards, and if you need an accompanying CPU, the best Ryzen X3D parts are now looking increasingly attractive.

A good time to get back into PC gaming, perhaps, and Ryzen X3D certainly fits the bill. AMD’s 120W 7950X3D hits a top speed of 5.7GHz, and while its 16-core configuration enables outstanding productivity, the addition of 128MB L3 cache makes it a gaming powerhouse, too.

The numbers don’t lie, and if you need extra incentive, it’s worth revisiting our February 2023 review to see what this humdinger of a chip can do. With prices falling across the board, AM5 is in our estimation a maturing platform now ripe for investment.
