Who doesn’t love a piece of themed hardware? It’s an easy way for manufacturers to speak to our inner geek, and I’ve got to be honest, the Doom: The Dark Ages Limited Edition Xbox Wireless controller absolutely speaks to me.

Launched to celebrate the arrival of 2025’s well-received game, the controller initially fetched £74.99 at retail but has suddenly dropped to a much more palatable £58.49.

That’s the lowest price we’ve seen by some distance, and there are reductions in other regions, too. While the 22% UK reduction is hard to beat, US shoppers can take advantage of a 7% price cut, bringing the fee down to $74.

“Arm yourself with the Xbox Wireless Controller – Doom: The Dark Ages Limited Edition, inspired by the Doom Slayer’s Armour.”

The iconic red mark of the Doom Slayer is instantly recognisable to fans of the series, and the Sentinel alphabet on the traditional ABXY buttons is a very nice touch. You’ll also be on the receiving end of some exclusive DLC, namely a Doom Slayer Executioner skin.

The controller won’t necessarily give you a competitive edge – it’s a regular wireless controller rather than a premium Elite Series 2 – but it’ll certainly bring the feel-good factor. Especially so if you’re contemplating the Doom: The Dark Ages Xbox Series X wrap to go with.

Microsoft’s Xbox controller remains one of the best options for PC gamers, and if you’re considering other upgrades, we have a dedicated performance analysis of the best Radeon graphics cards for id Software’s latest shooter. It’s a game that looks fantastic and plays superb with the right blend of hardware.
