Nvidia RTX 5070 Ti and other GPUs could get Super refresh with 50% more VRAM

It seems Nvidia is planning to outfit three of its Blackwell GPUs with 3GB GDDR7 memory modules, increasing capacity by 50%.

Nvidia is seemingly working on GeForce RTX 50 Super graphics cards, serving as refreshes to its existing lineup. The headline upgrade for these graphics cards is more VRAM, but Team Green is sprinkling in a few changes to CUDA core counts and memory clocks too.

Leaker kopite7kimi claims Nvidia not only plans to launch Super variants of RTX 5070 and RTX 5080, as prior rumours suggested, but is also working on an RTX 5070 Ti Super too. The user provides alleged specs for each model which I’ve collated into the table below.

RTX 5070 SuperRTX 5070 Ti SuperRTX 5080 Super
CUDA Cores6,400 (+256)8,960 (+0)10,752 (+0)
Mem. capacity18GB (+6GB)24GB (+8GB)24GB (+8GB)
Mem. clock28Gb/s (+0Gb/s)28Gb/s (+0Gb/s)32Gb/s (+2Gb/s)
Board power275W (+25W)350W (+50W)415W (+55W)

According to this leak, Nvidia isn’t equipping any of these Super models with wider memory buses. This more or less confirms that they’ll sport 3GB GDDR7 modules, replacing the 2GB ones used in current stock. Curiously, RTX 5080 Super will receive a memory clock boost to 32Gb/s. For context, the standard RTX 5080 already has the fastest memory modules under its belt at 30Gb/s.

Unfortunately, it seems like these Super variants won’t offer substantially higher levels of performance, unlike prior examples such as RTX 4070 Super. Neither RTX 5070 Ti Super nor RTX 5080 Super will feature more CUDA cores. However, Nvidia would need to upgrade from GB203 to GB202 on the latter card in order to do so. Meanwhile, RTX 5070 will get a paltry increase of 256.

Perhaps higher board power budgets can make some difference, particularly for overclocking potential. Given that RTX 5080 Super will have an additional 55W at its disposal, this increase in wattage doesn’t seem entirely due to the new memory modules.

Regardless of potential performance improvements, you won’t find me complaining about the prospect of Blackwell GPUs receiving more VRAM. RTX 5070 in particular should benefit greatly, plugging the gap between Radeon RX 9070 and RX 9070 XT at higher resolutions.

The leaker didn’t share any release estimates, but CES 2026 seems like the most likely candidate.
