Few games can compete with the reverence of Doom, making it a prime candidate for custom components and systems. Maingear clearly agrees, as it’s just launched its own series of limited edition PCs that will get fans’ of the series blood pumping.
There’s no mistaking this system for anything but a tribute to Doom: The Dark Ages. Maingear’s choice of chassis, a customised HAVN HS 420, oozes the stylings of id Software’s FPS from proverbial head to toe.

Sporting a green paintjob with white metallic accents, the case suitably evokes the Praetor Suit, complete with blood-red splatters of The Doom Slayer’s Mark. I’m particularly keen on the use of the symbol for the power button on the top panel.
While there’s plenty to love about this build, my favourite part of Maingear’s offering outside of the case is undoubtedly the AIO liquid cooler, a Tryx Panorama SE 360. Out of the box, this component will loop gameplay from Doom ’93, in a brilliant nod to the series’ origins.

Taking a closer look at the rest of systems’ components, Maingear is offering this Doom drop in three flavours: Hurt Me Plenty, Ultra-Violence, and Nightmare! See what it did there?
Before diving into the specifics of each SKU, it’s important to highlight their commonalities. Each config arrives with the HAVN HS 420 case, 360mm AIO, Phanteks D30 fans, 2TB SSD, and 32GB of RAM. Maingear also treats all builds to braided and sleeved red cable extensions.
Hurt Me Plenty costs $2,999 and offers a strong set of base specifications, arriving with a Ryzen 7 7800X3D and GeForce RTX 5070. Meanwhile, an MSI X870E Gaming Plus WiFi and MSI 650W G PSU handle motherboard and power duties.
Shifting up to Ultra-Violence will set you back $3,999 but nets a significant step up in gaming grunt, via a Ryzen 7 9800X3D and GeForce RTX 5080. Maingear naturally includes a higher capacity 850W to accommodate these components, but also throws in a more feature-rich motherboard too, namely ASRock PG X870E Nova WiFi.
Finally, Nightmare! raises the price to a $5,999. For all that cash, you’re getting proper flagship hardware, in the form of Ryzen 9 9950X3D and GeForce RTX 5090. Don’t worry, you’ll also have a 1,250W PSU on hand too.
It’s clear that Maingear has placed a lot of love and care into this limited edition drop. However, that should come as no surprise given the company’s previous efforts such as Retro95.
If you want one for your setup, you can pick one up from today. You’ll want to act fast though, as once this limited edition stock disappears Maingear won’t be bringing it back.
