Samsung just unveiled a bunch of world-first gaming monitors, offering 6K resolution, glasses-free 3D, and 1,080Hz refresh rates

While Samsung's latest QD-OLED efforts provide small upgrades, the brand's upcoming backlit gaming displays will certainly prove a sight to behold.

If there’s one thing I look forward at every CES, it’s new monitors and Samsung is bringing plenty of exciting displays to this year’s trade show that we’ve quite literally never seen anything like until now. There’s a lot to digest in terms of what the manufacturer has planned for its Odyssey brand, with world-first panels that are sure to catch the eye of any gamer.

Truthfully, it’s the backlit displays that are the most interesting of the lot as Samsung’s new OLED offering isn’t a massive departure from current stock. Regardless, it’ll undoubtedly prove a cracking display, as will its more unique IPS siblings. Without further ado, here’s a rundown of the upcoming Odyssey monitors.

Dual mode3K (3,072 x 1,728), 330Hz
PortsDisplayPort 2.1
HDMI 2.1
Features2D to 3D conversion
Glasses-free 3D
Eye tracking

Starting at the top of the range, the Odyssey 3D (G90HX) is the world’s first 6K display complete with glasses-free 3D features. The monitor’s able to forgo bothersome bespoke spectacles through built-in eye tracking, promising fuss-free native 3D as well as being able to convert 2D experiences into the third dimension.

While 6K at 165Hz sounds glorious on this 32in panel, you’ll need nothing less than flagship hardware to drive so many pixels. The same is true of its dual mode setup, which scales down resolution to 3K while doubling refresh rate to a whopping 330Hz. You’ll need a DisplayPort 2.1 graphics card to make use of either configuration, but Samsung also includes a HDMI 2.1 port should you need it.

PortsDisplayPort 2.1
HDMI 2.1
FeaturesAMD FreeSync Premium Pro
HDR10+ support
Nvidia G-Sync Compatible

The Odyssey G8 (G80HS) is largely a clone of the Odyssey but forgoes the third dimension for a strictly two-dimensional viewing experience. We’re talking same size, resolution, panel type, and refresh rate. This monitor even has the same dual mode and ports.

There are notable feature differences between the two displays, however. Samsung lists the Odyssey G8 (G80HS) as supporting AMD FreeSync Premium Pro as well as being Nvidia G-Sync Compatible. It’s unclear whether this certifications are only present on this monitor, and not the Odyssey 3D, but this appears to be the case as the manufacturer describes it for the moment.

PortsDisplayPort 2.1
HDMI 2.1

Less revelatory but by no means unexciting is the Odyssey G8 (G80HF). This monitor crams 5K’s worth of pixels into a 27in IPS panel running at 180Hz, making for a pin-sharp 220 pixels per inch (PPI).

For heightened motion clarity, you can engage the display’s dual mode for a 360Hz experience. This does drop the resolution to QHD, but that’s perfectly fine given the screen size.

FeaturesDisplayHDR TrueBlack 500
HDR10+ support

The last addition to the G8 line in 2026 is the Odyssey OLED G8 (G80SH). The monitor’s on-paper specifications aren’t a radical departure from present models, featuring a 32in 4K QD-OLED panel running at 240Hz.

However, there are welcome if subtle improvements lurking under the hood. Using the latest generation QD-OLED panels, brightness is better on this model, with enough nits to net DisplayHDR TrueBlack 500 cerficiation.

Finally, Samsung’s pushing refresh rate ceiling to new heights with the Odyssey G6 (G60H). This 27in IPS monitor runs at 600Hz out of the box, but can reach a world-first 1,040Hz in its dual mode.

However, I think dropping to a HD resolution in order to facilitate that four-digit refresh rate will prove a tall order for many. Still, running QHD at 600Hz will be an ace experience.

I’ll be hounding the team to keep their eyes peeled for these monitors at CES 2026, so make sure you’re following Club386 on Google News ahead of the show.
