Ducky rolls out Transformers keyboard with matching Optimus Prime mouse pad

While this keyboard can't transform into a semi-truck, it can give your gaming setup a Cybertronian flair.

Most every PC setup has a QWERTY keyboard, but how many setups do you know with Cybertronian characters? I’m speaking in both a figurative and literal sense here, as Ducky is working on a Transformers themed keyboard and desk mat that’s sure to please fans of the series and… transform your gaming space.

While taking an eagled-eyed walk around the Computex showfloor, we found this concept piece in Ducky’s booth that was absolutely (Star)screaming for us to take a closer look. While this isn’t necessarily the final design that you might find on store shelves in the future, there’s already plenty to love here.

The keyboard features cascading red, blue, and yellow keycaps, translating the colour scheme of the Autobots’ supreme commander, Optimus Prime. The remaining caps adopt a cream-grey paintjob, which comes close to evoking the metallic chrome of the series’ hero, but I think there’s room to go darker and deeper in shade.

Take a closer look at the keyboard’s letters and you’ll notice secondary characters in the bottom right of each keycap. These are Cybertronian symbols, which come in handy for translating the text at the bottom-right of the body. This cool reference certainly is more than meets the eye.

If you’re having trouble deciphering the text yourself, here’s a hint: what’s the opposite of a Deception?

While Optimus Prime is the obvious choice to lead the charge when it comes to Transformers collaborations, my mind’s abuzz with other characters Ducky could pay home too in future keyboards. I know plenty of folks that would fawn over a Bumblebee or Megatron board.

There’s even room to sell individual keycaps so you can literally transform your keyboard from one character to the next. Although, placing Decepticon keys on an Autobots board is perhaps asking for trouble, even war.

As a concept piece, we sadly don’t have any word on what keyboard this is, nor how far along this partnership is (should it ever come into fruition). Still, I hope Ducky hears the message loud and clear from Transformers fans among the stars: We are here. We are waiting for this board.
