Our favourite mid-range GPU is now going for a surprisingly reasonable price, but we don't expect this deal to last for long.

If you’ve been watching recent stories about GPU prices with horror, then here’s a welcome dose of positivity to put a smile on your face. AMD Radeon RX 9070 XT prices have just dropped back down to MSRP, meaning you can now pick up an XFX 9070 XT card for just £569.99 from Overclockers UK.

“If you can find Radeon RX 9070 XT at its MSRP, there’s simply no reason to opt for anything else for a gaming system.” – Read our 9070 XT review.

That’s a remarkably good price for this 16GB graphics card in the current climate, and we don’t expect it to be around for long. It looks as though Overclockers has some stock that it needs to shift to free up some cash flow, but incoming stock of 16GB graphics cards is likely to be considerably more expensive when it arrives at retailers later in the year.

With the main DRAM makers shifting production capacity toward chips for AI, it’s becoming increasingly hard for graphics card manufacturers to get hold of the memory they need, and there are rumours that AMD will prioritise 8GB cards this year.

As such, if you’re thinking of upgrading your GPU to a 9070 XT any time soon, we recommend doing it now, while you can get a card for MSRP, as future supply forecasts are looking increasingly bleak. At this price, it’s simply the best GPU in its league. As you can see in our 9070 XT vs 5070 Ti testing, despite its substantially lower cost, the AMD Radeon RX 9070 XT can even beat Nvidia’s RTX 5070 Ti in some games, such as Assassin’s Creed Mirage.

There are other games where the RTX 5070 Ti has the upper hand, such as Cyberpunk 2077, but the 9070 XT is consistently capable across the board. Unlike previous AMD GPUs, its new RDNA 4 architecture can properly handle ray tracing. Plus, AMD now has a proper answer to DLSS upscaling in the form of FSR 4, which is based on machine learning and looks massively better than previous versions of FSR. Nvidia’s DLSS suite undoubtedly has a lot more game support, as well as the benefits of multi frame gen, but at this price, the 9070 XT offers much better value.

Importantly, that 16GB of VRAM gives it an advantage over the 12GB RTX 5070, as well as a more powerful GPU, meaning you can enable settings that are out of reach of 12GB cards, while also giving you some future proofing for tomorrow’s games. If you can’t quite afford a 9070 XT, then it’s also worth having a look at these other budget GPU deals, including a 12GB Intel Arc B580 for £248.99 and a Radeon RX 9060 XT 16GB for £349.99.

Given the current DRAM crisis, 16GB graphics cards are unlikely to be available at affordable prices for much longer, so now is the time to pounce if you’re due a GPU upgrade.
