Colorful ups the ante with trade-in program offering up to $1,000 for old graphics cards

Tech enthusiasts looking to upgrade their rig with a RTX 40 Series GPU need look no further. Colorful has announced a new trade-in program where users can trade their old GPU for up to $1,000 in value when purchasing a new RTX 40 Series card.

Sadly, the deal is limited to Chinese customers who own a Colorful graphics card and is currently available over at the company’s official retail outlet on jd.com. The goal is simple; to get as many Ada Lovelace cards into the hands of consumers while also, more importantly, pushing as much inventory out of the door as possible.

Even though it’s not typical to resort to these sort of tactics, simply put, new graphics cards aren’t flying off the shelves as expected. It’s not the first time it has happened, either, with Asus UK offering similar trade options back in February. At face value, Colorful offers are on par or slightly better value when comparing the two side by side.

However, the list is limited to Nvidia cards only ranging from GeForce GTX 16 Series, GeForce RTX 20 Series, and last generation’s GeForce RTX 30 Series GPUs. Totalling up to 16 different models, users can receive up to $1,041 in trade value for the latest GeForce RTX 3090 Ti GPUs, or as little as $108 for a lowly GeForce GTX 1660 Super.

Additionally, Colorful will also offer an additional $29 in trade-in value for iGame Neptune series graphics cards. Of course, terms and conditions apply, and the monetary value refunded is based on the quality and functionality of the card submitted.

The offer extends from May 7 until May 21, and is extended to Chinese buyers who purchase any graphics card product from Colorful. Those who qualify can then send in their old graphics card from now until May 31 using the address mentioned on the website, though unfortunately shipping cost and risk is on the sender. The card will then go under review and functional testing and if found eligible, users will receive a refund within 10 working days.
