Nvidia GeForce RTX 5060 will hit store shelves on May 19, but no reviews for the graphics card will accompany it. Those wanting to get perspective on the the pixel pusher from third parties will need to wait a few days post-release. This is despite the fact that some press already have their hands on units.
This turn of events makes RTX 5060 the only graphics card in the GeForce RTX 50 Series lineup not to receive launch day reviews, bar RTX 5060 Ti 8GB. The reason behind this delay in critical coverage comes down to drivers. Nvidia isn’t providing cards or drivers to press prior to release and hasn’t disclosed its reasons for doing so.
Making matters worse, the RTX 5060 launch date falls just before Computex 2025 kicks off. Given the lack of pre-release drivers and review units, many tech outlets won’t even be able to begin review coverage until they return from the Taiwan exhibition. That’s if they’ve been able to their hands on a card either through partners or by purchasing one outright.
The lack of an official word from Nvidia as to why it’s adopting this release strategy only leaves room for rife speculation. Whichever way you cut it, though, this is not a move in the interest of consumers. While £269 / $299 is a relatively low amount of money in the world of graphics cards, it’s still a large chunk of change no one should be comfortable spending on any product without proper context.
If you’re considering purchasing an RTX 5060, I’d suggest holding fire. Even once outlets publish their reviews, we’re still waiting to see how AMD will respond to Nvidia’s latest offering as well as RTX 5060 Ti 16GB via its own Radeon RX 9060 XT. We should learn more about the 8GB and 16GB versions of that graphics card at Computex, so the wait time between then and launch shouldn’t be too long.
You can expect coverage on RTX 5060 from Club386 in due course. More imminently, though, we’ll be reporting directly from Computex in the coming weeks so make sure you’re following the site on Google News for all the latest finds and updates.
