Nvidia delists GeForce RTX 50 Series Founders Edition stock but insists they’re not discontinued

Listings for GeForce RTX 5090 and RTX 5090 Founders Editions are MIA for the moment, but should return soon.

Eight months out from the release of the GeForce RTX 50 Series, listings for some Founders Edition models have disappeared from the Nvidia store. This has prompted some to question the reason behind their removal, but it seems the graphics cards aren’t going anywhere anytime soon.

As of September 15, neither GeForce RTX 5090 or RTX 5080 Founders Edition models are available to purchase directly from Nvidia’s store, but RTX 5070 is still up for sale. As a reminder, these are the only three cards in the lineup to have received the first-party cooler.

Normally, Nvidia would simply list relevant cards as ‘out of stock’ rather than remove their listing entirely. As such, it’s understandable why enthusiasts would begin to question whether further Founders Edition units are en route of if production has come to an end.

However, Nvidia has since confirmed that listings for GeForce RTX 5090 and RTX 5080 Founders Editions should return in due course. Speaking to WCCFTech, the company provided the following statement:

“GeForce RTX 50 series Founders Editions continue to be in production. They are limited edition products so, from time to time, go out of stock on our website and return when back in stock.”

This response from Nvidia doesn’t explain why the company now opts for delisting Founders Edition models, rather than retain them with an ‘out of stock’ notification. However, the company perhaps didn’t think it a significant change in business practices to warrant clarification.

With all this in mind, if you’ve been mulling over purchasing a Founders Edition then I’d advise grabbing one from the next available batch. As Nvidia highlights, these are limited edition variants, and stock will run dry eventually.

There’s apparently no hope for GeForce RTX 50 Super Series cards to serve as a replacements in the near-future either. Although, I’m still convinced this is a case of when rather than if.
