If you don’t like curved screens, pass this one. If you do, it looks like a good deal.

Philips Monitors has announced a new 34in UWQHD USB-C display suitable for video calls and multi-tasking.

Joining the 5000 series with its Ultrawide 34in VA panel, the Philips 34E1C5600HE is intended for a variety of professional needs. Whether it’s graphic design, photography or CAD, this monitor has enough desk space to accommodate your work.

“The Philips 34E1C5600HE monitor is the ideal ‘work from home’ solution. It contains everything today’s employees need to get the most out of this new working reality, whether in terms of image quality, collaboration, security, connectivity, or comfort,” said Carlos Sanchez, Senior Product Manager for Europe at MMD Monitors and Displays.

Philips 34E1C5600HE - Front

It features a clean design alongside a 1500R curved UWQHD (3440×1440) panel running at 100Hz and capable of displaying 16.7 million colours with 123.24 per cent coverage of sRGB and 99.25 per cent of NTSC colour spaces. This colour range should be enough for most users, especially at its price.

Pixel response time is sufficient at 1ms MPRT and 4ms GtG, with typical contrast at 3,000:1 and maximum brightness up to 300-nits, which is also OK as long as there are no HDR claims.

The 34E1C5600HE offers wide viewing angles of 178°/178°, ideal for displaying large spreadsheets or multiple windows at once. Further ergonomics are available such as height (130mm) and tilt (-5° to +20°) adjustments. Pivot is not present because of the curvature that would make it unusable if added anyway.

In terms of connectivity, we find one HDMI 2.0 port, one DisplayPort 1.2, and a USB Type-C supporting DisplayPort Alt Mode, data, and Power Delivery up to 65W. There is also a USB 3.2 Gen 1 hub with four downstream Type-A ports (one with BC 1.2 fast charge).

The monitor has two 5W speakers and a headphone jack for some privacy, a built-in 5MP camera for video calls, plus a noise-cancelling microphone for clear communication. Quick session access is possible using Windows Hello.

Finally, Philips’s 34E1C5600HE benefits from low blue light, easyread, multiview, flicker-free, and adaptive-sync technologies, the company says.

The Philips 34E1C5600HE will be available for purchase from July 2022 at £479.99.
