SanDisk just unleashed the world’s smallest 1TB USB flash drive, and it doesn’t cost that much

A storage device worthy of the thumb drive nomenclature. It only lacks a keychain hook.

SanDisk has just released the world’s tiniest USB flash drive, boasting up to 1TB of capacity in a cufflink-sized block. Measuring 18.5 x 15.7 x 13.6mm, the SanDisk Extreme Fit USB-C Flash Drive is small enough to fit in your jeans pocket or wallet. Heck, you can leave it connected to your packed laptop with little risk of bending the port thanks to its minimal overhang. It also weighs just 3 grams, so you won’t notice its presence.

The Extreme Fit USB-C Flash Drive could easily be mistaken for one of those compact Wi-Fi dongles. In fact, the Corsair Sabre v2 Pro Ultralight 8,000Hz wireless dongle is larger. But inside this tiny drive, you will find more storage than some full-size SSDs. Its speed isn’t half bad either, reaching read speeds up to 400MB/s according to SanDisk. That might not rival the speeds seen on the quickest USB 3.2 Gen 2×2 drives, but it’s still surprisingly fast for its size.

Since the Extreme Fit is likely to be used as a backup or file repository, that speed is fine. For comparison, this is nearly as fast as SATA SSDs, which can run operating systems and games without a sweat. Plus, like any USB drive, you can access these files on nearly any device that supports USB, whether it’s a tablet, phone, or even a printer. You’ll only

If you’d like to use it as a photo and document backup drive, then SanDisk also has some software to help. Its Memory Zone app for Windows, Mac, and smartphones give you the ability to back up at custom intervals: every day, every week, every month, or every time you plug in your drive.

The best part, though, is that you won’t need to break the bank to get one. The largest 1TB model goes for just $109.99, backed by a five-year warranty.
