ASRock has expanded its Steel Legend PSU series with a 1,200W unit featuring two 12V-2×6 power cables. The SL-1200GW is a fully-modular PSU, carrying an 80 Plus Gold and Cybenetics’ Platinum / Lambda A certifications, indicating its high-power efficiency and near-silent operation. If you want to build a white machine or prepare for any upcoming GPU releases, this model has you covered.
The SL-1200GW is an ATX 3.1 / PCIe 5.1-ready PSU measuring 150mm x 150mm x 86mm. Its modular design allows you to use only the strict minimum of cables, making for a clean and airflow-optimised system. ASRock advertises using 100% highly reliable Japanese capacitors to prolong the PSU’s life span, topped by a 135mm FDB fan that is said to provide proper cooling at lower noise levels. The latter can be configured in two ways: always on, or iCOOL mode, where the fan stays off during low to medium loads, only spinning when the load or temperature increases.

Painted matte white – including the cables – this model would perfectly fit a build starring the brand’s B850 Challenger white motherboard. Speaking of which, both the 12V-2×6 cables feature ASRock’s coloured connectors, making it easier to check for proper cable seating at a glance. This should address some of the safety concerns some users may have, without breaking the overall aesthetic.
Interestingly, despite targeting gamers, the SL-1200GW comes equipped with two 12V2x6 connectors, which are not necessarily on current graphics cards. Aside from some rare and special models such as the Galax RTX 5090D HOF OC LAB XOC or the Titan Ada prototype showcased by YouTuber der8auer, no card requires more than one 12V-2×6 for all its power needs. So, is ASRock preparing for upcoming GPUs which could demand more than 600W to function? Only time will tell. After all, the RTX 5090 is already gobbling 575W out of the box, so crossing 600W with next-gen graphics is completely possible.

The SL-1200GW comes bundled with a set of flat cables, including one 24-pin for the motherboard, one 4+4-pin for the CPU, another 8-pin for the CPU, two 12V-2×6 for modern graphics cards such as Nvidia’s RTX 50 Series, two 6+2-pin PCIe plus one 8-pin PCIe for AMD and Intel cards, two SATA with four ports each, and one Molex with three ports. A full suite of protections to keep all components safe is also present, including SCP, OPP, OCP, OTP, OVP, and UVP.
The ASRock SL-1200GW can be found at $199.99, backed by a 10-year warranty, which is among the cheapest PSUs with such specs. That said, if you are tight on cash or don’t need this much power, the rest of the Steel Legend lineup includes other white alternatives, though with only one 12V-2×6 cable.
