This modular power supply is packaged in a typical black be quiet! cardboard box. On the front, you’ll find information about the PSU model, its power rating, and its 80 Plus and Cybenetics Titanium certification, plus a picture of the PSU. On the back, there is additional detail about the current and voltage ratings, as well as a QR code that takes you to the product page. Manufactured in partnership with Channel Well Technology (CWT), the unit utilises an internal USB-C telemetry header that routes directly to your motherboard to communicate with the be quiet! IO Center software.
Instead of a traditional physical Overclocking Key (OCK) toggle switch on the rear panel, control has been shifted entirely into the software domain via the be quiet! IO Center hub.

Meanwhile, the cooling design utilises a custom 135mm be quiet! Silent Wings fan (model BQ SIW4-13525-MF) integrated into an internal heatsink frame, eliminating structural vibrations against the outer chassis. Its powered by a 6-pole motor, and it uses a fluid-dynamic bearing to keep down noise. The fan can spin at up to 2,100rpm, but as we’ll see later, at some loads it doesn’t even need to spin up at all.


This assembly is nestled within an integrated aluminium heatsink, a design that not only eliminates vibrational noise but also efficiently removes excess heat from critical electronics. The fan shroud and its aerodynamic slats channel take in air through the heatsink, keeping operating temperatures remarkably low, as I’ll demonstrate later.
Internals
Primary side



A massive heatsink connects to the parts of the power supply that need the most cooling, and shifts a large portion of the heat from internal components. Even though a Titanium efficiency power supply generates less heat than a lower-rated model, active cooling is required to prevent overheating under high load. The OEM which built this PSU for be quiet! is CWT, a well-known and reputable manufacturer.


Inside, the Dark Power Pro 14 IO features a semi-digital, interleaved PFC, and full-bridge LLC converter topology on the primary side, paired with synchronous rectification and DC-DC converters on the secondary side. The main bulk of power storage relies on high-grade Nippon Chemi-Con capacitors rated at 420V and 510uF, providing excellent hold-up times exceeding 20ms.
The primary switching section uses four Alpha & Omega AOTF29S50 MOSFETs, while the secondary +12V rail employs sixteen Vishay SiRS4600DP MOSFETs rated for massive current delivery. Minor +5V and +3.3V rails are generated via six UBIQ Semiconductor QM3054M6 MOSFETs, managed by a uPI Semi UP3861P PWM controller. The internal layout is clean and cable-free on the DC side, which removes airflow impediments and lowers overall internal impedance.
Secondary side

Performance and efficiency
How we test
My first basic test is performed with a Thermaltake Dr Power III power-supply tester. It doesn’t draw more than a couple of watts from the PSU, but it helps determine whether it’s operational. A self-check indicates whether the voltages are at the proper levels.

As you can see, there are no issues with the be quiet! Dark Power Pro 14 IO 1,600W unit. The following professional setup was used for the remainder of the testing:

- Fluke 97 Scope meter (voltage and ripple)

- ACUVIM-IIRF (measures active power- input from the socket).
- PCE Instruments PCE-DT 50 tachometer (measures rotational speed of the fan)
Measurements are taken only using 230V input voltage.
I’ll give you the TLDR first. The be quiet! Dark Power Pro 14 IO 1,600W delivers excellent efficiency that keeps power waste and heat generation in check. Under typical loads, the PSU consistently maintains very high efficiency, ranking among the best in its class. This high efficiency directly translates into lower electricity bills for users running their systems extensively, as well as a reduced environmental impact.
Given its ATX12VO support, the be quiet! Dark Power Pro 14 1600W houses four 12V rails, capable of delivering 133A in total, for a 1,596W power output. Should you need to use 5V and 3.3V, there’s 24A available on each, though not concurrently, of course.

Voltage regulation on the main +12V rail is exceptionally tight across the entire load spectrum. Whether it’s operating in multi-rail mode or as a single massive rail via software configuration, voltage output exhibits virtually zero sag when going from idle to maximum capacity.
Under its highest current draw, deviation from the ideal target remains well below 0.5%, providing unwavering, rock-solid power to demanding modern CPUs and GPUs. It’s worth noting that the Seasonic Prime TX-1600 Noctua Edition is even tighter here, with just 0.02V of variation across this range, but the be quiet! is still rock solid here.

Mid-load efficiency peaks near an outstanding 94.59%, meaning minimal power is lost as waste heat during long gaming or rendering sessions. As you can see, the be quiet! Dark Power Pro 14 IO results aren’t spectacular here, but they do improve slightly on the figures from the Seasonic Prime TX-1600 Noctua Edition.
With that high wattage, it’s definitely more difficult to achieve great results at very low loads, which represent a small percentage of total capacity. 40W, for example, is merely 2.5% of this PSU’s total long-term power.

Ripple suppression on the primary +12V rail is practically flawless. Thanks to extensive secondary polymer filtering networks, AC noise voltage is strictly below 40mV, even under severe 100% dynamic load testing. This clean power delivery safeguards sensitive GPU voltage regulators and ensures maximum margin when pushing heavy overclocks.
As with most of the other results, the ripple from the Seasonic Prime TX-1600 Noctua Edition is even lower, but these are still great figures.

These are terrific results. be quiet! Dark Power Pro 14 IO works passively up to almost 60% load (960W), with the fan turning on at around 55% loads (880W). Even with a bit less than 75% (1,200W), mind you, it’s barely spinning, and that figure is large enough to power a monster system full of the best components possible. The 135mm fan’s intelligent speed control keeps noise to a minimum, with the PSU practically silent across low-to-moderate workloads.
Even under heavy loads, the noise output remains subdued, making it an excellent choice for quiet PC builds. This cooling efficiency means the PSU can maintain stable operation without resorting to aggressive fan speeds, which often cause distracting noise spikes in less well-designed units.
Background noise in my lab is 30dBA, so even under full load, I can barely hear the fan, which spins at around 800rpm at anything other than 100% load. That said, while this PSU is very quiet at high loads, it’s worth noting that the Seasonic Prime TX 1600 Noctua is even quieter here, hitting just 33.9dBA at 1,600W (1,398rpm).
Software
One of the key features of this PSU, of course, is that be quiet! IO Center gives you complete control over your Dark Power Pro 14 IO and other be quiet! IO devices. This intuitive software package allows you to fully configure your Dark Power Pro 14 IO, while keeping system resource usage low.
In addition, IO Center features a Hardware Monitor on the home screen, providing real-time system data at a glance, ensuring you always stay informed about temperatures, frequencies, load levels, and even the battery status of the be quiet! Dark Perk mouse if you have one.

Importantly for this PSU, IO Center can speak to it via that USB connection, so you can monitor your power supply in real time. Not only that, but you can also adjust some of its features. You can switch between active and semi-passive cooling with this software, for example, and switch between single and multi-rail setups.
