Philips is adding a new 34in ultrawide gaming monitor to its Evnia lineup, with a 3440×1440 resolution and 200Hz refresh rate. Unlike a lot of the latest screens, the Philips Evnia 34M2C5601QA isn’t based on OLED or IPS tech, but instead uses a Fast VA panel.
That means you’ll get deeper blacks and higher contrast than a comparative IPS screen, with Philips claiming a typical contrast ratio of 4,000:1. That’s great for playing epic singleplayer games and watching movies on this 21:9 screen, but VA panels have historically been less responsive in fast action.
That said, some of the latest VA screens buck this trend, as we found in our Alienware AW3226DM review. Either way, you get to fill your face with a massive 34in ultrawide screen, which also has a 1500R curve to wrap around your peripheral vision.
That means you have loads of horizontal desktop space, which is ideal for having two application windows side by side, as well as giving you an ultrawide view in games that support its 3440×1440 resolution.
What’s more, Philips’ MultiView mode enables you to show content from two sources on this monitor simultaneously. Meanwhile, its built-in KVM feature means you can hook up two devices with the same set of peripherals, and easily switch between them without having to swap over any wires.
A pair of HDMI 2.1 ports are provided, along with a DisplayPort 1.4 input, and there’s also an integrated set of 5W stereo speakers. Meanwhile, a USB-C port is on hand offering 90W of power delivery.
Where this screen looks like it struggles is when it comes to wide colour gamuts, with Philips claiming it covers 89% of DCI-P3 and 90% of the Adobe RGB colour spaces. However, Philips claims its standard SRGB colour reproduction is 98%.
As with a lot of Philips monitors, you also get the company’s Ambiglow lighting, which adds an ambient glow in sync with your setup, thanks to RGB LEDs on the back.
Finally, you get a stand with a decent amount of flexibility, including 130mm of height adjustment, 30° of swivel movement, and -5-to-20° of tilt available.
Philips Evnia 34M2C5601QA is due to be released in October 2026 at a price of £299.
