AOC hast unveiled its fastest gaming monitor to date, the Agon Pro AGP257FT, featuring a 1,000Hz refresh rate that can even stretch to 1,050Hz via with overclocking. Using an oxide-based Fast IPS panel, this display promises to circumvent the voltage-response limits that can hamper typical LCD performance at such high speeds.
Getting other core specifications out of the way, the AGP257FT has a 24.5in diagonal with a native 1920×1080 resolution, netting 90 pixels-per-inch (PPI). Sharpness naturally isn’t the draw of this monitor, but this form factor fits within typical preferences of esports professionals.
On-paper response times are ludicrously low for an LCD, with AOC claiming grey-to-grey speeds of 0.3ms dropping down to 0.1ms via MPRT. In order to deliver a true 1,000Hz experience, the monitor will need to shift between hues within a 1ms time-frame, with little room for error.
Hoping that it’s nailed the secret to success here, AOC explains that the oxide-based panel “drive pixels faster than conventional LCD designs, overcoming the voltage-response limits that typically hold LCD panels back at extreme refresh rates. The result is smoother motion, lower frame delay and more immediate visual feedback during flick shots, quick turns and rapidly changing scenes.”
We’ve seen other 1,000Hz monitors hit the market earlier this year, failing to hit that all-important 1ms target. However, AOC is using an entirely different panel in the AGP257FT, one that’s more akin to the one found in the upcoming LG UltraGear 25G590B, so real-world performance remains to be seen.
In addition to its enticing refresh rate and response times, the AGP257FT will arrive with other esports-focused creature comforts. The stock stand features measurement markings, for example, so you can easily replicate your preferred viewing position from your home setup while you’re on the move at tournaments and LANs.
Outside the realm of competitive gaming, the AGP2527FT promises decent all-round display performance too. You can expect up to 450nits of brightness from the panel, with full coverage of the sRGB colour space and 90% of DCI-P3, though AOC doesn’t quote any colour accuracy figures.
While AOC hasn’t shared pricing for the AGP257FT, I’d expect a high price for this monitor. We’ll know just how much the company plans to charge for the pleasure of 1,000Hz closer to the display’s Q1 2027 launch window.
