AMD Radeon RX 9070 GRE has been put through its paces by Chinese reviewers, showing some nice results, especially at low resolutions. Matching its predecessor and Nvidia’s mid-range alternative, the latest Golden Rabbit Edition (or Great Radeon Edition) has all the cards to be a go-to option for gamers.
According to multiple reviews, the China-exclusive AMD Radeon RX 9070 GRE 12GB graphics card delivers good overall performance, allowing it to match its competitor, Nvidia GeForce RTX 5070 12GB. For instance, in 163’s tests, the card traded blows with Team Green’s counterpart in 15 games, resulting in a mere 1% overall difference at 1440p.
Better yet, the slight advantage that RTX 5070 enjoys starts melting as the resolution goes down. Gamersky’s review showed that RTX 5070’s lead went from 5% at 4K resolution, down to 2% at 1440p, and 1% at 1080p.
Compared to its RX 7900 GRE predecessor, Radeon RX 9070 GRE didn’t show many gains, contrary to AMD’s official claims of a 6% uplift. For example, Carbon Based Technology on bilibili found a 0.8% difference between the two Radeon cards, which is indistinguishable to say the least. Against its bigger RX 9070 sibling, RX 9070 GRE slots about 15% behind, leaving a comfortable separation gap. Lastly, the lower RTX 5060 Ti 16GB is no match despite its larger and faster memory pool, as Radeon pushes ahead by nearly 30%, depending on games.

When it comes to operating temperature and power consumption, RX 9070 GRE remains within comfortable zones, hovering around 51°C and 229W while under a Furmark stress test. These results can vary a lot depending on the card’s model and your local climate, but RX 9070 GRE still has good potential if priced correctly.
As usual with these GRE variants, RX 9070 GRE will be exclusive to the Chinese market, at least initially. Regardless, AMD will need to lower its original 4,199 RMB ($576) MSRP to make it more appealing to a worldwide audience since the faster RX 9070 was announced at $549. Though realistically, good luck finding the latter at MSRP. Overall, RX 9070 GRE offers an effective solution for gamers seeking high performance without a premium price.
