With Call of Duty Black Ops 7’s launch fast approaching, scheduled for November 14, 2025, you may wonder if your PC is ready for the game’s updated graphics. Well, folks at Computer Base took the opportunity offered by the ongoing open beta to test various hardware configurations and determine how each one fares. Turns out, AMD is once again giving Nvidia a run for its money.
According to the benchmarking results shared by Computer Base, the RX 9070 XT was the second best in the roundup, beating the RTX 5070 Ti by a comfortable margin while closely trailing the behemoth RTX 5090. This is noteworthy considering that the RTX 5070 Ti was trading blows with the RX 9070 XT in our tests, indicating this title’s great optimisation for Radeon. The Green Team catches up a bit at 4K resolution, but the Radeon remains surprisingly good.

At 1440p, the RX 9070 XT rendered 203fps using the game’s Extreme preset plus FSR quality. For comparison, the RTX 5090 was only 14% ahead at 231fps, while the RTX 5070 Ti sat 24% behind. At 4K, the RTX 5070 Ti reduced its deficit to 16%, while the RTX 5090 expanded its lead to 37%. Even so, the RX 9070 XT remains a great adversary, since the RTX 5090 can be between 60 to 80% faster in other games.

Radeon vs. GeForce aside, Black Ops 7 seems to be quite light on GPUs, with affordable mid-range cards such as the Intel Arc B580 able to maintain above 60fps at 1440p. In fact, the game developer recommends an RX 6600XT, RTX 3060, or Arc B580 to achieve 60fps in most situations at high settings. Even the CPU demands are completely within reach, requiring an eight-year-old Ryzen 5 1600X or a ten-year-old Core i7-6700K. And we are talking about recommended specs, the minimum ones are even lower, asking for a Ryzen 5 1400, RX 470 / GTX 970, and 8GB of RAM.
Those needing a little push or preferring high refresh rates can always enable upscaling or frame generation. The game supports DLSS 4 in its CNN and Transformer model, FSR 4 via the FSR 3.1 driver upgrade, and XeSS. There is something for everyone. Logically, most users shouldn’t struggle to get an enjoyable experience, which isn’t surprising since its devs target players from all socioeconomic backgrounds.
Performance aside, Black Ops 7 is set to bring back some beloved modes such as Kill Order from Black Ops 4, where you are tasked to eliminate the enemy HVT while keeping your HVT alive, and Zombies. The latter is my favourite mode; it offers loads of fun when playing with friends, and most importantly, I don’t get stomped by stronger players like in PVP. Since the game will be available on Game Pass, I plan to give it a try at some point, though I must say, the recent increase in price is holding me back.
