Intel Arc B770 GPU looks like it’s coming soon, hints software update

Official support for the much-rumoured Intel BMG-G31 GPU has just appeared in VTune, hinting that Arc B770 could be landing soon.

There’s hope we may yet see the elusive Intel Arc B770 out in the wild, as BMG-G31 has just been mentioned in an official software update. Looking likely to be the most powerful GPU in Intel’s B series, many gamers have been eagerly awaiting this new chip. Is Intel about to launch a new GPU that could take on Nvidia’s GeForce RTX 5060 Ti and AMD’s Radeon RX 9060 XT? It’s starting to look hopeful.

Intel mentioned support for both the BMG-G31 GPU and Core Ultra 3 Panther Lake CPUs in its latest VTune changelog, released on December 4, 2025. This is the first time this GPU has been spotted on official documentation, as previous reports were based on third-party software or shipping manifests. In other words, after months of waiting, Intel seems finally ready to talk about big Battlemage. Furthermore, mentioning both BMG-G31 and Panther Lake in the same phrase could hint that the former is also scheduled to be revealed at CES 2026.

Intel BMG-G31 support.

As far as specs go, BMG-G31 is rumoured to pack 32 Xe2 cores, giving it 60% more than Intel Arc 580, coupled with 16GB of GDDR6 memory running on a 256-bit bus. Unlike B580, which uses a PCIe 4.0 x8 interface, this new GPU is said to offer a wider PCIe 4.0 x16 connection that should help extract its full potential.

That said, the main question is whether this will be an Arc B770 GPU for gaming. Unfortunately, we can’t be sure yet. If the mention of BMG-G31 was in a gaming driver release notes, we would have had concrete evidence, but as things stand, this could as well be a professional card like the Arc Pro B50. This possibility is especially stronger nowadays, considering extremely inflated memory prices, which are likely to make a gaming card less appealing, unlike a professional AI GPU that would find customers in a blink.

However, if we are lucky enough to get a gaming B770 or whatever it ends up being called, we can expect it to compete with the GeForce RTX 5060 TI and Radeon RX 9060 XT. Pricing-wise, I expect it to land between $350 and $400, or perhaps more in current conditions.
