MSI announces AM272 all-in-one PC with up to a Core i7-1260P and 64GB of RAM

An upmarket office machine with good looks.

MSI AM272

MSI has introduced the Modern Series all-in-one (AIO) computer featuring an upgraded processor alongside a redesigned elegant exterior in a tight package for office use.

The AM272 relies on a narrower bezel 27in IPS display with a 1920×1080 resolution, while being powered by up to a mobile Intel Core i7-1260P comprising four P-Cores plus eight E-Cores running at 3.4GHz base and 4.7GHz boost frequencies. The graphic portion is covered by integrated Intel Iris Xe Graphics with 96EUs operating at 1.4GHz. As for memory, this machine can host up to 64GB (2x32GB) of DDR4-3200 SODIMM modules.

Unlike last year, this time MSI has included a built-in HD webcam in a notch above the top bezel. This camera supports Windows Hello plus Tobii eye-tracking technologies, meaning no more passwords thanks to facial recognition’s seamless log-in and more security from Tobii’s Aware software that blurs the screen if you look away from the machine. Got that? Additionally, MSI provides a webcam shutter to maximise privacy.

Storage is taken care of by an M.2 SSD supporting PCIe and SATA modes plus a 2.5in drive removable from the computer side. Windows 11 Home comes pre-installed; however, MSI recommends Windows 11 Pro for businesses.

Connectivity-wise, there is one HDMI-in, one HDMI-out, two USB 2.0, and a GbE networking on the back, plus two USB 3.2 Gen 2 Type-C, two USB 3.2 Gen 2 Type-A, and a combo 3.5mm audio jack on the side. Wi-Fi 6E and Bluetooth 5.2 are of course available for those who prefer the convenience of a wireless connection.

By providing an HDMI-in port, MSI allows the system to be used as a monitor – let’s say if the hardware inside becomes obsolete, or simply dies before the screen does. So, kudos for that.

For ergonomics, there is a 75x75mm VESA mount. If it’s not your thing, you can get the more complete AM272P 12M with an adjustable arm.

MSI has not yet confirmed pricing and availability, so stay tuned.
