Philips announces the 27E1N8900 professional monitor with OLED and 4K support

Colour coverage is through the roof.

Display manufacturer and maker of the massive Brilliance 498P9Z, Philips unveils the 27E1N8900 professional-grade monitor, featuring OLED technology and outstanding colour gamut.

The 27E1N8900 is a 27in 4K OLED display measuring 626mm (W) x 373mm (H) x 40mm (D) and tipping the scales at 5.51kg, or 3.83kg without a stand, which offers height (130mm), tilt (-5°/+20°), swivel (+/-175°), and pivot (+90°) adjustments.

Speaking to its professional credentials, it covers 99.7 per cent DCI-P3, 119 per cent NTSC, 150 per cent sRGB, and 99.6 per cent Adobe RGB. Healthy figures all round.

Thanks to its OLED panel, contrast is also excellent at 1,000,000:1 allowing for DisplayHDR True Black 400 certification. Do not confuse this with the more basic DisplayHDR 400.

Typical brightness is 250cd/m² with peaks up to 540 cd/m², which is okay for an OLED panel, especially since this monitor is only 27in, translating to 163.78PPI density.

While the refresh rate is a basic 60Hz, the rated response time is excellent at 0.1ms. Although this monitor is not aimed at gamers, it can do the trick for casual users, particularly when factoring in how hard it is to run games at 4K even for high-end cards like monster GeForce RTX 3090 Ti.

I/O comprises HDMI 2.0, one DisplayPort 1.4, one USB-C 3.2 Gen 1 supporting DP Alt mode and 90W power delivery, a four-port USB 3.2 hub and a 3.5mm audio out. Picture By Picture (PbP) mode alongside a KVM switch are also available for multitasking users.

There is no word about pricing nor release date for UK and Europe markets yet.
