Philips’ new 5000 Series digital signage displays feature AI acceleration and cloud remote control

Take your storefront to the future with Philips' AI-ready signage, and keep your promotions fresh.

Philips has unveiled its latest digital signage series, which are designed to offer reliable and efficient information displays for retail, restaurants, and more. The Signage 5000 Series looks set to be Philips’ most powerful and intelligent digital signage range to date, offering a crisp UHD resolution and 8-core processors.

Available in the EMEA, APAC, and American regions, the new screens aim to elevate businesses’ consumer-facing sides, offering large displays optimised for promotions. These could be retail products and discounts, restaurant menus and pricing, airport/train schedules, various event information, and even simple corporate slogans. It’s a blank canvas ready to make your business stand out from the others.

The Signage 5000 Series is the first Android SoC display range from Philips to integrate an AI accelerator rated at 6 TOPS. It represents an evolution of the Signage 4650, offering a high-quality presentation window while maintaining strong energy efficiency and processing power. These new screens are also built with 24/7 reliability in mind, with the durability required for retail, corporate, and public installations.

“The highly flexible and versatile Philips D-Line was a landmark digital signage display, breaking new ground for design, quality, reliability, and versatility,” says Said Bart Wouters, international product manager for professional displays at PPDS. “With the new Philips Signage 5000 Series – an evolution of the D-Line, we have upgraded everything that made the 4650 and its predecessors a global success.”

To make sure the screens shine, even in bright light, the 5000 Series comes equipped with a panel capable of reaching up to 600nits on the larger models, and 500nits on the 32in FHD variant. This allows the screens to be placed in various environments while maintaining good visibility.

In addition to being designed for around-the-clock operation, the series also features Philips’ FailOver technology, which automatically switches to back-up content whenever the main media source fails. This ensures peace of mind, as the screen never goes black, which is especially important for locations such as airports and train stations. Perhaps with the help of AI, these screens could even avoid those silly situations when Windows crashes and shows a BSOD page.

Behind the scenes, the Philips Signage 5000 Series (D-Line) is powered by an upgraded Android 14 professional SoC platform designed to be secure. Thanks to this, managers can install web apps and software directly onto the display, eliminating the need for an external media player. Furthermore, with integrated HTML 5 support, any Chromium-based browser can be used to remotely connect, control, and update content, simplifying the deployment of large fleets. Those who want to hit the ground running can also use Philips’ Wave ecosystem, offering a simplified setup process, as well as firmware updating, playlist management, and even power schedules.

The Signage 5000 Series will be available in portrait or landscape mountable variants, with 32in, 43in, 50in, 55in, 65in, 75in, 86in, and 98in sizes. All pack a wide range of connections, including HDMI, DP, HDMI out, RS232, Gigabit LAN, and USB-C, not to mention direct internet access via Ethernet cable, Wi-Fi, or the optional 4G module.
