These new Gigabyte motherboards promise to boost Ryzen X3D gaming performance by up to 25%

X3D Turbo Mode 2 leverages the power of AI, with the promise of speeding up your X3D CPU in both gaming and all-core workloads.

Gigabyte just wrapped up its ‘Beyond Edge’ event, revealing a bunch of new hardware. Alongside new external graphics solutions, laptops, and systems, the brand is launching a series of X870E X3D motherboards that aim to push the performance of AMD Ryzen 3D V-Cache processors to new heights.

I caught a glimpse of these motherboards earlier this year, at the Gigabyte Computex 2025 booth. Back then, the company was touting its ‘X3D Turbo Mode 2’ would respectively boost gaming and multi-core performance by up to 15% and 35%. Now, the brand’s reeled in the latter to 14% but promises even-greater gaming gains with a promised maximum improvement of 25%.

There are five Gigabyte X3D motherboards, each arriving with support for X3D Turbo Mode 2. Only three are available now, with the other two due in the near future. Here is the lineup, complete with pricing:

So, what exactly is X3D Turbo Mode 2? It’s essentially a one-click overclock for your 3D V-Cache processor, powered by a dedicated hardware block running a local AI model to dynamically adjust frequency and power in real-time.

The feature has two modes that you can toggle between from the desktop: Extreme Gaming and Max Performance. As their names suggest, the former will improve frame rates while the other focuses on absolute multi-core power.

I’m curious to see how X3D Turbo Mode 2 performs across various 3D V-Cache processors. I doubt we can expect the same performance uplifts on Ryzen 7 9800X3D as we’d see on Ryzen 9 9950X3D, not forgetting older models, but Gigabyte hasn’t provided SKU-specific data to suggest otherwise.

With X870E Aorus X3D motherboards now available for purchase, it shouldn’t be long now before someone puts Gigabyte’s claims to the test. I’m keen to do some exploration of X3D Turbo Mode 2 myself, so keep your eyes peeled for that.
