Ugreen simplifies local storage and media streaming with DH2300 and DH4300 NAS series

Ugreen wants to help you take ownership of your data while saying goodbye to monthly cloud fees.

Ugreen has introduced the NASync DH Series, which is a pair of Network Attached Storage (NAS) solutions designed to provide secure local storage to home users and small business teams. This series is presented as a cheaper alternative to cloud-based storage, with an emphasis on privacy and ease of use. The lineup includes two models, the DH2300 and DH4300 Plus, with the former releasing today.

The NASync DH Series is built with multi-user access in mind, and thus supports all kinds of drives, from computers to smartphones. It offers automatic backups from all your devices, plus seamless access and management. Those wanting even higher levels of data protection can further sync their files between NAS or directly to the cloud. And when the time comes to find a specific file or picture, the brand’s AI sorting and search tool saves you time thanks to smart tagging and in-image text recognition.

NASync DH2300

The NASync DH2300 is the ideal first step into personal NAS, offering a simple and affordable entry to user wanting to get rid of their cloud subscriptions. With the dual-bay SATA configuration, it allows for up to 60TB (2 x 30TB) of total storage capacity, which should suffice for most personal needs. Ugreen claims it can easily handle vast libraries of 4K videos, high-resolution photos, and large documents, without relying on third-party cloud services, making it useful for first-time NAS users seeking to back up personal data. Understandably, to keep this data safe, the DH2300 supports multiple RAID modes, giving you the choice between performance and reliability.

The DH2300 I/O consists of one USB 3.2 Type-C 5Gb/s in the front plus two USB 3.2 5Gb/s in the back, alongside one 1GbE LAN and an HDMI port; powered by an eight-core processor with a built-in 6 TOPS NPU and 4GB of LPDDR4x memory.

The part that will interest many, however, is the brand’s UGOS Pro operating system. This OS is built to be as intuitive as possible, offering new users a guided setup procedure that can be done within a matter of minutes. Everything from automatic photo backup to media streaming to your TV is available through a single interface. As for those using smartphones, the built-in NFC quick connection ensures simple access, without having to enter long passwords.

Most importantly, this access is strictly managed, separating different users’ data behind encryption protocols and even two-factor authentication if needed. Lastly, the threat management tool helps you keep your data safe from viruses through 24/7 monitoring.

NASync DH4300 Plus

The DH4300 Plus is made for collaborative work, delivering a more powerful backbone plus larger total storage capacity reaching 120TB (4 x 30GB) using four SATA drives. This makes it ideal for heavy workloads such as media storage/streaming and simultaneous user access. In other words, it is made for small businesses wanting to protect their data. To ensure speedy file transfers, the DH4300 Plus upgrades the connectivity slightly compared to its smaller sibling, offering a faster 2.5GbE LAN, one USB 3.2 Type-C 5Gb/s, two USB 3.2 5Gb/s, and an HDMI port.

Due to its quad-bay design, this model allows the use of RAID 5/6/10, in addition to the 0/1 available on the DH2300. This time, a different eight-core processor runs the show, coupled with 8GB of LPDDR4x memory.

Software-wise, the same features available on the DH2300 are once again found here, from easy and secure access to virus detection and cloud backup.

The DH230 is now available at €209.99/£169.99, with the DH4300 Plus coming higher at €429.99/£359.99. Note that if you pick one right now, you can save yourself €21/£17 and €65/£54 on each model, respectively.
